FORScan vs Flashcal+

They appear to do almost the same thing. What are the differences and pros and cons? Is one basically a Ford product and other is not?

Long story short, forescan is a computer program to change settings...Flashcal+ simply does the changes w/o the need for a computer. Forescan has many more options to access but fairly cumbersome for a newbie not familiar with the procedures for changing settings.. Flashcal+ super easy to use but only a select set of options to change. Forescan also requires a subscription to access the program.

FORScan is very powerful and Ford-specific program with many built in service and calibration procedures that you would also find in FDRS which is the program Ford dealers use to diagnose vehicles, reprogram modules, and much more. FORScan also gives you the ability to reconfigure modules in both an easy and advanced modes to enable/disable many functions, as well as module programming capabilities for more advanced users. It is not endorsed by Ford in any way.

They can both be used, but FlashCal is literally doing the same thing as FORScan but without you typing in the code. It's for people who don't know how to use a computer or spreadsheet.

One is an extensive software run on Windows that requires a subscription and being smart/careful.

The other is a boiled down version of that same software which can run on your phone and is a one time purchase. It contains only certain settings which the developer deemed as useful for the average bronco diy owner.

It’s like Manual transmission and Automatic transmission. Forscan (MT) and Flashcal(AT).

"Subscription" - you just change the date on your computer to be inside the correct date window.

I didn't know it stopped - I'm changing the low pressure alarm setting to 28 today, I'll report back.

FlashCal is literally doing the same thing as FORScan but without you typing in the code. It's for people who don't know how to use a computer or spreadsheet.

Flashcal+ is for people who very well know how to use a computer and a spreadsheet, but would rather not mess around researching through arcane codes on a spreadsheet and buying a subscription, an adapter, and a buggy peecee laptop to make select changes to their Bronco.

I am really enjoying running Sport mode on my Badlands, not having the double honk when I step out of my truck with the ignition on, and not having the panic alarm going off inadvertently, all courtesy of FlashCal+ and ten minutes of my time.

IMO the biggest plus for Forscan is the ability to troubleshoot when out on the trail. Flashcal+ is certainly a great simple tool to make changes but virtually no way to troubleshoot.

Forscan is free if you have a laptop and the needed adapter costs less than Flashcal.

Flashcal only makes sense to me if I wanted to also do some tuning.
