Can I get some help please? Can anyone with a Mishimoto high intercooler take some measurements for me?

First I want to say Shawn with Hammer Built is amazing to work with. I've been struggling witht his for several days and he was went far beyond what any normal salesman should to help me.

My Mishimoto intercooler hard pipes hang down about 3/8" below the frame. There's no wiggle other than many 1/16" in the hardware to lift the intercooler. I pulled up as I tightened the bolts just to make sure. Also there is only about 1/4" between top of the intercooler and the hood latch, so it can't go up much.

Also the distance between the hard pipes is about 17.3" and the outside measurment of the winch mount is about 17.8". Both of these measurements are confirmed with the manufacturers that they are correct and both say there have been no changed. I suspect Mishimoto has made changes and they are so big nobody in tech support knows about it. I can easily cut the winch mount and make the clearance for the hard pipes and then use a 3/8" spacer on each side of the mount to connect it to the frame, but I feel I'm doing something wrong. All of these parts are known to work together and Mishimoto says they haven't changed anything and Hammer Built hasn't changed anything.

Can someone who has this measure their's for comparison so I can know what is different?

I have many pics, but I have uplodaed two. One is a flat edge showing the gap between the pipes and frame and the other is the overall pic.

If you’re using a spacer, why would you also need to cut the mount? That sounds more like an either/or solution unless I’m misunderstanding the issue.

Is the main problem just slight rubbing/contact with the FMIC, or does it physically prevent the install from bolting together correctly? In other words, will everything install and simply self-clearance over time from slight contact, or are the mounting points so misaligned that the hardware won’t go together at all?

I would have to cut the winch mount to fit between the hard pipes. The spacers would be required because the pipes hang below the frame. Any two items that are made of a hard material that vibrate will wear on each other and eventually create a hole in the thinner material (intercooler pipes). There must be clearance to allow for vibratations especailly since one mounts to the frame and the other to the body.

I installed mine this weekend. I used a 3/8" 6061 aluminum plate and fabricated a set of shims, scribing them to match the Hammer Built mount. The fit looks good overall. There may be a slight amount of rubbing, but nothing that concerns me.

Now I'm trying to figure out the best way to clock the winch for access to the free-spool lever. Is there a clean solution that provides easy access? I saw a photo of someone reaching up through the passenger-side skid plate opening, which seems less than ideal.

Even if I rotated the gearbox 90 degrees, I still don't think I'd be able to reach the lever through the grille. How are others handling this? Remote solenoid setup? Access port in the skid plate? Something else I'm missing?

My install was very tight tolerance but everything cleared. that photo was probably me. I am curious what direction you want to clock the free spool lever to. You can not go up the mount is in the way. Forward would be a mess to access. Cut a hole in the bumper or skid plate? If the skid plate, down would still be best. I really have absolutely no problem with the passenger side access but I do have a little more room there than most people.

I am surprised... mine fit perfectly. tolerances were very very tight but it could not have fit better than it did.

I was hoping there was a better solution. When you have T. rex arms, it's harder to reach. I will practice in the driveway prior to any trail use. I was thinking about having the lay in the mud to get at it. I guess I could spool out on power. It will take a while, but it's faster than other winches. :)

Side Note: Are the color combos on the AUX switches the same as the Raptor? I found a doc listing the colors. I have not yet finished the wiring, but the FMIC and HB winch install was enough for one weekend of faffing about.

I have relatively short arms as well. I am not a big guy. I understand exactly what you are saying.

Oh and laying in the mud? last weekend, nothing to winch to and was building a rock ramp in the mud up to my shoulder.... Sometimes it just happens.... As long as I can get home, it was a good day.
