Curious about feedback on getting either the Ford Performance tune, Livernois Tune, or ZFG tune. I would only run the 91 octane and would want the main benefit from the transmission tune with these.

I know this is a beaten topic but now that we are into 2026 I’m sure there are some that have long term experience with these tunes.

Thanks

Unless you can afford a $25K engine go with FP, who has exponentially more engineering, computing, and dyno resources than Indy firms whose total worth are less than 1 hr Ford toilet paper budget haha.

I did the 2.7 FP tune and the trans is perfect in all modes. I paid a famous Indy for S550 Mustang trans tune, bought the MVP, and felt ripped off after tune was crap and got ghosted.

I have experience with HP tuners as I used them on my 01 Camaro that had a 408 LS in it. You’re are right about the fact that you can end up with an expensive paperweight if it’s tuned to the edge.

I’ve heard that the Ford tune does add more power slightly as time goes on over initial gains. I feel the biggest benefit is going to come from the transmission tune. As of now from a stop to a full punch you can tell torque management is holding it back. With a ten speed and 4.7 rear it should leap off the line pretty hard.

Not to mention drastically reduced durability due to poor calibrations on all the interactive electro mechanical systems....I might trust a Roush because they are embedded in Ford engineering and race programs for decades.

I am happy with the FP. I like the modest power gains (I run 93) and really like the trans shift fixes. I did mine still under warranty. I would give any extremely high tunes a while before getting into those, but the other tuners on a mild tune should be fine as well.

Yeah I see all of the shops posting big numbers but I never ever see or hear them talk about anything else but numbers. I’d like to see comparisons with afr ratios throughout the entire pulls. See timing and knock throughout the pulls. Also would like to know how much torque management has been pulled. But you never hear them talk about those numbers. I’ve seen one tuner that says he’s getting tires to chirp between shifts. To me I’m not interested in that with my daily.

I had the piggyback Panda tune since 2022 and it was a decent upgrade in performance but didn't address the shift points. I recently added the FP tune and wow what a difference. Now have the benefit of the transmission tune on the FP and the overboost from the Panda. I can disconnect the Panda anytime and since it's not a flash it is somewhat untraceable which will make warranty claims a little less complicated if it came to that. The result is a very "driveable" boost even in normal mode. I added Sport Mode to my Badlands and it has the throttle response of Sport Mode with better shift points so its not jerky around town at lower speeds. Confirmed with Panda that both these tunes can work together and it definitely does that.

JB4 is the go-to PNP tuner. Easy to install and remove, adds tons of safe power, and even works on top of the FP tune if you decide to also add that in!

I added a CFV intercooler and charge pipes and a custom 93 Panda tune. I could not be more thrilled to drive the rig. Immense power off the line, through the power band and no change in drivability. The truck is a damn BEAST. I don't know why someone said you have to worry about a $25,000 repair if you modify the engine. That's just retarded. Yes, I used that word because it is warranted...

lol I think he’s saying more inline with some tuners that go all out for the quest of rwhp bragging rights.
I definitely want to go your route with upgrades. Definitely want to help it out off the line. It’s kinda a pig stock off the line, falls on its face for a solid half second.

I couldn't be more happy with my results. It just wakes the truck up. When I give it a little juice my wife grins and says "race truck". God I love that. You step on it and it feels mean, and FAST...

Its simply a risk dealing with mickymouse parties that are using tools and skills that are 1/1000000000000th of Ford, thats all. Thats why they don't warranty the outcome. Common sense.

No warranty = no confidence in product.

Aftermarket tunes are great for someone who can afford a new AMG Gwagon all cash or Cullinan but prefers to have a blast modding the Bronco....i get it.

Don’t listen to that nonsense.
Custom tune is far better than the FP tune in every aspect including transmission tuning and torque management, not to mention power. It’s literally not even a comparison. And in my experience, extremely reliable even when pushing things much harder than it sounds like you plan to.
