New Recall #23S48 - REPLACE REAR VIEW CAMERA

Its been years on my wife's explorer for the same thing...they tried patches and components...now replacing the whole unit. Apparently the same crap with my bronco now.

Ford and shitty cameras, a story as old as time. My wife's old Edge had lifelong camera issues. No display at all or an upside down image.

My wife’s Edge also Ford replaced 2 cameras then went black for years then I replaced with a camera from Amazon. Now it’s so bright and clear.

No, that’s not accurate.
21-23 all came with the exact same camera from the factory up until 4/6/23.
At that time, the faulty camera (M2DZ-19G490-B) was superseded and replaced with M2DZ-19G490-E which is the recall fix part.

So like I mentioned, M2DZ-19G490-E is probably the correct fix for all of them. If it fixes the 21’s, why would it be any different for 22-23

Once they update the bulletin with the part number you’ll know for sure. At that time, if -E is not the correct part, you can easily contact Ford and get things straightened out.

I hope you're right. Got to wonder why the dealership can't just tell me that if it's the case though, eh?

It's not like I've been screaming at them.
Just asked for them to explain when so many dealerships weren't fixing this recall.

Theres 2 different camera recalls.
One to replace the camera, and a new one to update the software for the rear camera. You likely saw the software update one that just came out.

My rear camera went dark/black today while parking. Tried going in drive then reverse, but was frozen, pixelated and partially black…all screwed up. Turned truck off/on and it cleared up. This is the 2nd time in the last few months it has gone haywire.

wont be surprised if the recall gets expanded if trucks beyond the current recall are having issues. My negativity towards ford and their "plan to improve quality" combined with my gut says ford does not fully understand the issue, Hope I'm wrong.

Many of these recalls should have emerged during quality testing prior to production deployment - assuming they have a robust testing process. Clearly not a Six Sigma shop.

So, I have a 2023 BB, Camera and sound actually went out prior to me backing up when a family members car in my driveway was in a blind spot on side mirrors. My spare tire hit a 2019 malibu on an angle above rear facia. $3500 damage to it, out of pocket, a scratch on my spare for me. Taking it into dealer per Ford. The other day my warnings went of without nothing around me. We will see what happens. ugggg
