Sweet jesus can they just post a damn changelog, ffs?
Found the changelog online:

Enhanced Stability
  • Your vehicle's software has been updated to manage resources more efficiently, contributing to smoother operation and a more consistent update experience in the future.

You're welcome

ECG is another acronym for the gateway module. So likely nothing interesting.

So honest question hereā€¦Iā€™ve had Mazdas and Toyotas for the lastā€¦.well since my sweet ā€˜86 Escort GT. My Bronco is the first vehicle Iā€™ve owned that gets OTA updates. If itā€™s running great with zero issues from day 1ā€¦.why would I want to or need to apply one of Fords updates?

I have automatic updates disabled. I guess I have the ā€œif it ainā€™t broke donā€™t fixed itā€ thing going on with the Bronco.

Am I being dumb and I should take any update pushed from Ford??

I got located out of my truck on Tuesday with a door keypad becoming unusable. Fortunately I had the softop back and I could reach in and pop the door. Alarm went off of course but the fob in the console let me start it and stopped the alarm. Iā€™ve been a door keypad frequent flyer for well over a year and other Fords. This has never happened. Then yesterday a coworker texts me my Bronco is alarming in the parking lot. My key fob was in my pocket as Iā€™m now afraid of the unfound Gremlin. It would not work standing next to my Bronco to stop the alarm? I hate OTA updates without a lot of warning. Canā€™t say they are related but this is suspicious.

Apparently weā€™re suppose to get different features something along the lines of 360 active cameras, our ability to use the exterior lights again from phones, a different version of security alert.

Dang no notification on your phone? Same I wish we got an alert letting us know there will be incoming updates ahead of time. Just so weā€™ll know what to look out for should something happen . I only knew about this one because I opened the app to make sure my car my was locked

I feel like there's two ways of looking at this:

- Never updating until you have to, then you have many updates to apply. Hope it works!
- Always update. Hope it works!

For me, the former is more dreaded given who we're talking about here and what it is. Maybe that's foolish, but I'd rather know sooner than later. YMMV.

So fords updates arenā€™t cumulative? Letā€™s say ford puts out 4 updates, if I skip the first 3 consecutive updates and catch the 4th one, it still has to run the first 3 I skipped because the code in the 3 missed updates are not part of the 4th one? If thatā€™s the case then yeah, your take on best practice makes total sense to me.

Modern software development is iterative.

Software development can be segmented into a few main types of changes: bug fixes, security fixes, feature enhancements.

your vehicle has remote connectivity. Do you trust that they got it right at release? Because no one does.

your vehicle has complex software.

your vehicle has wireless keys.

I personally donā€™t trust that any of this was working right or has no security issues at release. I believe they have a very good reason to improve their software. I leave updates on and think keeping them off is a poor decision.
