Last week at work I deployed a new version of our internal management tool. With every release I have to send out release notes to the team so they know what changed.

The release notes I wrote: "Deployed an update to make future software updates easier."

As a developer, we call new bugs added by updates "features". I've had my Bronco modem turned off for over a year, so no new features added.

I turned mine off as soon as I bought it in Jan. It runs fine and I don't need my truck to get bricked over some remote update for a feature change that I don't want anyway. I realize that's dramatic, but not improbable.

Lucky you... I lost the rolling rocks some time before I decided to turn off software updates (about a year ago). But at least now I don't have issues with Android Auto disconnecting anymore.

I had the dealership install the ProCal tuner and this post has me wondering if I should turn off updates because it's running so good, don't want it getting messed up.

I turned mine off as soon as I bought it in Jan.

Yeah, I turned mine off before the first update was available for the 2021 model year and there have been no updates done to mine. I can't do a remote start using my phone, but that's a small price to pay for knowing that mine is not broken in some way due to an update that I didn't want. I have experienced multiple devices related to TV in some way that no longer worked as well after an update.

I still get letters once in a while requesting that I get the update for the backup camera that apparently can do something weird after backing up in 4L mode. What kind of a moron is going to have a problem because the camera stays on? Besides, that has never happened on mine.

Honestly I appreciate them saying what the update was for.

I’ve also noticed that my auto stop/start sticks after a shutdown now. I have the FP tune but auto s/s wasn’t sticky after it was installed. I suspect an OTA update fixed this.
