it was outrageous. I would have done it in my garage, but unfortunately, I work out of state and we were leaving for this trip from my work condo rather than our house. So no garage prior to our overland.

To be fair, I just had 8 fillings done for $3,700… So the fluid change was actually quite reasonable by comparison. 🤦🏻‍♂️

just checked my receipt:
Oil change $122
Tranny flush $313
Both diffs $570!!

Looks like labor rate was $160/hr and they certainly did it strictly by the book.
Did you get the transfer case changed as well?

!!!! Roofus, for $3700 I’d have flown up there and done it myself for you. Maybe not by the book per se, but it’ll drive. Those pesky brake line clips, I swear! 🤣

if you did the fluids and the fillings you’d have had yourself a deal! 😂

I have a Dremel and some JB Weld, would have done the fillings for $2500!

I just had my front, rear, and transfer case fluids flushed this morning (along with my oil changed, tires rotated, and a couple recall notices completed).

With only 37,000 km on my Bronco, the technician noted:

"COMPLETE FLUID FLUSH OF FRONT DIFF, REAR DIFF AND T-CASE.

NOTED FRONT DIFF AND T-CASED SHOWED DARK FLUID BUT OK. REAR
DIFF QUITE DIRTY, NO ABNORMALITIES NOTED. TIGHTEN ALL
FASTENERS."

Any thoughts why the rear would be worse than any of the others? I don’t do a ton of off roading. Just curious.

Glad I got this completed, thanks to this thread.

Went ahead and had dealership flush the transmission fluid at 36k miles. Came back with report of "contaminated/burned". At least now with the PPE pan, I can change it myself.

The rear is 100% in operation while the vehicle is moving and will typically always generate more metal and contaminates.

Yeah, I've held out as a skeptic here myself. I'm sure some people will see some metal, others won't. The discrepancies between the service interval recommendations are absolutely confusing. My Bronco is a daily driver that hits the trails maybe 5-6 times a year. I'm planning to get mine all flushed between 40 and 45,000.
I have never not seen metal in any Dana 44 Advantek rear axle. The transfer case and transmission perhaps not so much given the fact that the transmission is both pressurized and has a filter in it.

I'll be willing to bet a steak dinner on any Dana 44 axle if you take paper towels and wipe out the inside you will see a ton of metal--just look at the pictures of mine at 2500 miles.

This tread was a huge help, i ordered front/rear diff fluid Motorcraft 75w-140 and the motrocraft Mercon LV for the transfer case.

i have 20k and it will be the first change, looking to see how it is.

For sure.
Another big thing for me at least was the catch can setup, I 100% get oil collection between changes that normally would being going into the intake.

Changed all fluids yesterday at 7k miles in my Raptor (also did the same at 1k). Everything looked pretty clean witn minimal discoloration/metal. The rear diff cover came off and the inside was wiped down. Pictures here of the magnetic drain plug, cleaning it, the last part of the fluid draining as well as the ring gear.

Either the xfer case or front diff did not have a magnetic plug so added them. I think one of those may now have a magnetic drain and fill plug since I had 2 new magnetic ones to use. Used the ones from earlier in this thread:

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/change-driveline-fluids-early.83929/page-20#post-2172788

I'll probably move to 30k now on the fluids or maybe 20k of the rear.

431 ft lb is the spec for the lower strut mount bolts 😮.
