Wow, oil change prices in my area have exploded or am I just missing something?

I had the oil changed in mid November in my Bronco 2.3 with full-synth 5W30 for $55. Last Friday I got the oil changed in my Spark 1.4 with full-synth 0W30 for $72 with a $25 off coupon! Same place did both.

My Bronco is at the dealer today, for replacement of the bluetooth mic under warranty and a works package. 2.7 works package with a 4 tire rotation, 143.15 after tax. I live in a small town of 21k people.

This happened to me, only the opposite. I was getting oil changes on my pickup, synthetic, ~$90. Then I got my Bronco and went to a new place and it was $55. Huh? Oil prices were low(er), so I didn't question it that much.

Next time, I specifically said full synthetic and the guy was like, it'll be $90, you sure? I said, why is the other cheaper? He said it's a synthetic blend, I assume with regular oil.

So maybe the same thing is happening to you?

DIY is the way to go...

- $30 for 6qt Quaker State Full Synthetic from Wally World (Meets Ford spec)
- $10 for AFE oil filter
- $4 for two cold Corona while oil drains.

Yeah, a while back I paid around $3 for the Motorcraft filter on Amazon and was worried it might be a fake, seems to have worked fine, Walmart has them for under $10 sometimes. And $23/5qt for unnamed full synthetic at Walmart I'm good

I take mine to the dealer. Its typically $90 something after tax for oil and rotation.

I DIY 3 of my cars, the other one goes to a Valvoline center and usual just under $100 with a coupon. The dealership is north of $130.
