permanently disable 30 minute idle timeout

lol that's funny. my use case is different. when we're out on offroad recovery missions, and it's cold, i want the vehicle to stay running. some times we're out after dark and using the lights to see. or, we're doing heavy winching and i want to make sure i don't shut it off until i get back home as we can put a serious strain on the battery with heavy pulls.

i don't GAF what the EPA wants. It's my rig and i'll let it run for 3 days if I want to lol!

I may have figured it out!

in forscan, in the IPC config. You can disable auto idle engine shutdown, but it has a message attached that you must change one more thing in the BCM config. But it doesn't tell you what. Well after a little experimenting, it appears to be "police idle" that has to be enabled.

Once both were applied, the 30 minute max idle is off on every startup!

By god, if i want to let my vehicle idle for 2 hours, i want to let it idle for two hours!

I was pretty upset When I found this out as well. But then figured the few times I really needed to let the Bronco idol I could flip that switch.
A permanent fix, along with ASS removal is a welcomed Discovery.

I'm still debating how I want to disable ASS. Sounds like the force can is not really a disable, but more of "trick" by making it think you are using the steering/brake?

Stupid to spend $100 on the eliminator, but that might just be something I have to eat.. like getting better internal lighting.

Yeah.... That's my plan, but I just struggle with yet another $100 vs me doing a 2 step start.... Ignition + ASS.

At some point, I'm sure my laziness will win!

I bet most people would prefer to over pay for an ASS eliminator rather than Nitrogen fill on the tires.

update. i disabled that police idle this morning just as a test, and sure enough the 30 minute max idle was still disabled on startup. this does through a code in the system along the lines of "idle parameter not matching build" or something like that, i didn't write it down. but i cleared it and it didn't come back.

I think it does something...because my door locks don't work anymore.... either on the fob, or switches.

I figured it out. It works now. Anyway.
I had too many silent modes on, so I turned
All of them off one at
A time. Then wrote all the changes, and relearned the PCM
it had done something to the computer, had duplicate things on. I had all police dark modes I had all the silent modes enabled, so I undid everything!
and then it just left me with the option on the center stack to turn it off now under the 30 minute idle button. which is cool
So now, if I want to keep it on silent mode, I just leave the soft button on silent, and then if I don’t, the lights will flash, the lights in interior light will come on if I turn it off, so no more going in the computer to do that.
I already disabled the horn beeps so they are gone anyway.
Don’t ask me how all that happened but it did?

So you're saying you're back to the stock configuration where it defaults to the 30-min timer upon startup - and if you then turn it off interior lights flash?!

I'm not sure I'm fully following what silent modes you enabled and what it's doing now.

Sounds like I made it even more confusing. I’ll explain it the best way I can.

in a nutshell…
I came across that police idle thing, thinking that that overided
The 30 minute idol you guys are all talking about on the screen in the middle of settings on the display.

but what I came across was that playing with the Forscan settings,
I ended up getting an extra button underneath that 30 minute idol button that allows you to turn the silent mode on an off from the actual screen
And not in Forscan.
Has nothing to do with the idle time.
It’s an extra function that showed up in the menu from playing around in the computer.
It is normally not on the Bronco.
So in addition to fixing the lock problem with the doors, I ended up getting that extra “soft” button
By pushing and pulling in, clicking and messing with the computer, I got lucky is all I’m trying to say!!!

no i didn't have to guess and change manual lines. i just shut off the idle shutdown and then enabled police idle. it runs all day now.
