@Dusty so you plug the procal into the computer for 20 minutes, then into the bronco, then back into the computer and this box comes up after you log in. Nice run on sentence I must say!

Cool! So I guess I'll just use the p/n for the 5.13 even though I Frankensteined mine together rather than buying that p/n. Wonder why it needs 20 minutes to think about it.

EDIT: Still not happy it cost me $600 just to delete the FAD :(

What kind of performance gain can we expect if we stick to the cheap gas? They only publish numbers for you rich guys that can run premium LOL.

No clue, long as the 1-2 automatic gear shift is better its worth $500. Never even driven my bronco with 91 octane in it.

Well in my case I just have to pop a few ibuprofen to dull my arthritis and get quicker shifts LOL.

Ford Performance sells the ProCal without the performance tune for $500.
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-12655-F

And with the performance tune for $825.
2.3
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-B23
2.7
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-B27

I don't know how you would go about purchasing the performance tune for the ProCal if you buy the one that doesn't include it. I don't see a separate firmware purchase for the tune in Ford Performance website.

Well that didn't answer the question you replied to but I've already bought mine. It includes the tune and I got it for $600 during Lethal Performanc'es Black Friday sale. It is my understanding that the ProCal by itself would not do the FAD delete as that feature comes with the tune from Ford (though I may be wrong about that, it was just an assumption). So like I said, $600 just to stop the computer from throwing a code for deleting the FAD. I have no complaints about the performance of the 2.3L engine, and I can't benefit from adjusting shift points because I have a manual transmission. So yeah, $600 to delete FAD. I've already bought it. But I'll still bitch about it LOL

That said, if by chance there is some small performance benefit running regular gas I'll take it, as a bonus. But I'm not going to run premium gas to do it. I live behind the iron curtain (California) where gas is already too expensive.

You have to have the tune to get the FAD delete. It asks you if you changed the front diff when uploading the performance tune to the Pro-Cal. This is why Ford says you have to buy the Bronco Pro Cal.

@Dusty it's noticable, like a bunch of angry squirrels under the hood. I had tire spin in second gear super happy!

Good to hear! If I can lay a patch at the mall parking lot, that reduces the sting a bit :)

The procal with tune changes the target map tables and incrementally more when it detects a change in octane so more octane your gonna get more timing/boost etc. It also obviously messes with the shift map which is pointless on a 3 pedal version. the 2.3 vs 2.7 are different strategies, but the end affect is the same.

The idea was not to waste money on the perf engine tune if you weren't going to use it.
It is possible the stand-alone ProCal can do all other calibration changes, and even the performance tune if Ford allows you to buy it separately.
No information on the FP page about which calibrations are available for the ProCal, so more investigation is required.

Not much feedback on here for running the FP tune on 87. If you did the install on your computer, you should have the stock engine/trans calibration saved and (they say) you can load the stock calibration back to your Bronco.

Usually with ProCal FP it ups it to recommended 91 octane usage, but you can still run less because it can componsate within a safe range to do so. I dont know if they are shipping a sticker with the procal for the gas door on the broncos or if FP backed it down to 87.

It's been decades since I messed with tuning cars. I'm sure there is a lot more memory given to the maps these days that can cover a wider range of values from the sensors. Not to mention updated sensors.

I've had the FP tune for a while. I don't recall a sticker in the box for new min octane rating.
It's been a long time since I've had a car that recommended less than 91 so I'm used to running premium. I have been running 93 in the Bronco since I bought it because it can take advantage of the extra octane even with the stock tune.
