So I noticed something on my drive home from work today. While looking at the mostly unused analog speedometer, I saw that it goes all the way to 120mph. by running the tach at 2000rpm, my Black Diamond 4dr 2.7L was doing about 66mph. That means it’ll go about 100mph at a little over 3000rpm, or 120mph at about 3600rpm.

But will it break apart before it reaches that speed?

What sort of mods do you guys think I’d need to do to hit 120mph in my Bronco?

Oh… it needs to be safe and on a closed track. Or maybe the autobahn.

You would have to mod the ECM to remove the speed limiter which is (I forget but someone will chime in with correct number) 104-116 mph

I have topped 100 on I80 or I76 somewhere west of Omaha

Removing the limiter is a must, since that just artificially stops it from going faster.

100 is pretty fast. I think I may have hit 85-90 momentarily on a pass, but it gets pretty hairy at that speed. Maybe my tires are the limiting factor.

My Police Interceptor Crown Vic shut off at 131. Tires were rated at 131 for 1 hour...

I paid for the whole speedometer, I'm going to use the whole speedometer...

And that's not you you spell I-10 west of Phoenix. ;)

I find myself speeding on the freeway. The bronco cruises nicely at 85. In comparison, my gladiator cruises comfortably at 70ish. I usually have to watch my speed in the bronco. It doesn’t feel as fast as it’s going.

Not sure why you would ever want or need to go 120+ in a bronco, but you wouldn’t need any mods to do it other than removing the speed limiter.

Bronco is great for many things. Going fast top end is NOT one of them.

I am guessing though as mine hasn’t been assigned vin yet etc.

I have no desire to push my Bronco to the 112 mph speed rating of the Wildpeaks it's riding on. I doubt I'll ever get mine much past 85mph. I have a Tesla Model S that is very happy at high speeds if I want to drive fast.
