I have installed 2 of these systems, 1 in my wifes 2024 Kona and the other in my 2024 Bronco Raptor. The Kona has is installed inside and my Bronco Raptor I mounted it right above the factory rear camera on the spare tire. The outside camera image is much better IMO. You get a much wider cleaner view of whats behind you. mounted inside you loss alot of view. I would only mount it as far outside as possible for the best quality image.
You will want an extension cable to reach the rear tire. If you remove the larger plastic trim piece on the tailgate you will see a rubber grommet, take a small razor knife and put a small slice in it just enough to fit the extension cable through to make the connection. You will also remove the smaller/upper trim piece to run the rear camera cable. Thats where I started my extension cable and finished it outside the Bronco. I used outdoor velcro tape to mount the rear camera right above the factory camera if I ever needed to remove or replace it. Trust me, do it right the first time, mount it outside with a 6' foot extension cable from amazon, it was like $5 bucks
My OEM backup camera gets very messy with rain/snow/dirt and then the functionality is pretty bad. Why would this camera be any different if you mount it outside? I am intending to mount mine just inside to avoid that very issue. Isn't any harder to mount it outside, I just don't want to run into the same thing I run into on the current camera that came with the vehicle. Am I wrong in that thinking?

In south Florida we don’t have the snow, lol. The main reason is for the best view, from inside you will not see very low behind the vehicle. The best view is from outside.

How did you mount the camera outside? What did you use to secure it ? I have my camera inside behind the molle, it does not bother me, but honestly I did not consider mounting it to the back-up camera stalk. I have a turn off-road mount, there are some place to put it if I extend it.

easy to remove and replace if you want to take the tire off. I have the extension connection behind the camera too. That makes it better if I need to remove it for a new camera for any reason. You just need to bend and shape the bracket slightly to fit the curvature of the factory camera, very easy to do

Well that tracks. I have seen a few views from inside and I think it will suit me. I'm not too worried about low down vision. Anything will be better than the current mirror I suspect. If not, I'll try it outside.
Thanks

They sell a polarized filter for the front camera. But reviews say it doesn’t fit that great and can be seen in the corners of videos. That filter won’t fit o the rear camera.
The anti glare film isn’t made for the lens side. And polarization filter wouldn’t work with headlights most likely. Not to mention there are none that’ll fit it.
rain can be an issue as the water hits the lens directly. I’ll get a picture next time it rains.
meanwhile, some driving away from the sunset pics.

I have the filter for the front camera and it works great. I have not seen it in any of my videos, also it fits fine. You should put it on the camera before you mount, because it is a tight fit, and if you do not put it on all the way, perhaps it could be an issue.

I also use the OEM bracket, so perhaps that is another reason I do not have fitment issues or a problem with it hitting something. Not sure what to make of it because that was never an issue for me.

Well, my hypothesis that the screen flipping back and forth on its own being due to the voice command function being on was proved wrong this morning. I called Wolfbox and they acted as if they’d not heard of it but sent me the firmware file to update. Is anyone experiencing this after the firmware update was installed?

Rob, how did they send you said update? Via email? How are you getting it uploaded into your mirror? Just anticipating in case I have the same issue. One would think if someone bought a mirror in the past two weeks (me) then I wouldn't need it as it should have the latest and greatest software and maybe it does. Guess I'll find out this weekend when I install.

I have not had any of these issues. What is the latest firmware? Perhaps I have the latest. I did purchase directly from Wolfbox...not sure if that made any difference.

In other news after checking a few things, it dawned on me why I installed my rear camera the way I have.
1. Cannot do the rear camera stalk. If I put it over or under, the DV8 accessory bar is in the way. So nope.
2. No 3rd brake light. It was damaged while at ford, so yeah. Even I get one I need the extensions mounts for my Turn Off-Road mount and I have no ideal where they are.
3. I did notice that the license plate bracket looks to be able to fit over the Armadillo 3rd brake mounts. Run the line through the hole they have, but the camera would literally be on the roof.

So the options are limited. So where its at is where it will stay.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding. Are you looking for film for the rear view mirror or the actual camera lens?
I used the screen protector on the actual mirror they sell. That’s the one that I couldn’t get on without bubbles.
the polarizing filter is just for the camera.

Power supply questions. I ordered the Dongar power adapter to take power from the mirror in addition to the longer fused wiring harness and figured I'd play with both to see what I like more.

Why not just go with a long USB-C to USB-C power cord and run it off the dash? It'll be live 24/7 that way, easy to unplug, less fiddling and cheaper. I'm using the USB-A plug for my radar detector currently.

They sell cords long enough to route along the top of the windshield, down the A-pillar and across the front of the dash/winshield junction to work. I'd tuck the cable in behind the panels.

Any issues doing it this way?

I think most run the hardwire for the sentry feature? For powering the wolfbox, yes this would indeed work, and is not a bad solution.

The sentry feature just requires power all the time, correct? There's nothing special about that wiring harness other than it runs to the fuse box and is powered 100% of the time. Those USB's on the dash are powered all the time so it should work for the sentry feature too I'm guessing.

I ran mine for a day that way. It works. You just need to remember to turn off the mirror on the button on the bottom or it’ll run 24/7. Not sure how that affects the sentry feature. I haven’t messed with that yet as it’s turned cold here in TX.

Ah ok so with the hard wire kit, it automatically powers down the mirror but enables sentry mode. This is why I ask! Appreciate the help. Hoping to get it all installed Saturday or Sunday.

I originally used the OBD II hard wired cable but found that our street is so busy with vehicles it kept powering up and after 1 day killed the battery. I used the dongar adapter now.
