Why does it seem many tire makers are going to E & F load range

I was looking to see what new tires might cost. I have Maxxis RAZR A/T in a 37-12.50 17 on my bronco. They are E rated( were supposed to be D) don't ask...

Anyway Maxxis did make a D rated tire in that size, but is discontinued now. Mickey Thompson makes a D rated BFG, and a few others. , but most others seem to be E and F now? I know about sidewall strength, but the ride really suffers over a D.

The number 1 selling type of vehicle in North America is pickup trucks which are designed to carry/tow a ton of weight.

They're making tires for the masses.

I have 35" Maxxis Razr M/T's in E-load and don't find them that stiff on road or off. I also keep them around 35-36psi. Have you tried dropping 2-3 psi?

Yeah, have tried all different pressures. I believe in the cooler weather fronts are 34 and rear are 31 right now. I had them on with the stock Sasquatch suspension and now with 6100 Bilstiens which are digressive, so firm at the very least. Havnt loved the ride stiffness wise , but they are a great tire on and off road, ride great otherwise. Ive had them in the mid teens when doing harder trails and they do fine, just stiff in my mind.

Road divets and joints are jarring....
