Has anyone modify the Trickflate/napa maxitrac type compressor to not use the alligator clip - car battery power and use the 110V outlet in the back of the center console instead?

I thought about hard wiring mine mounted under the hood to the battery but it really isn’t a big deal to connect the alligator clips…would just need a 100 amp fuse inline and maybe a battery switch/relay…would not work with the 110v outlet…

if you really don't want the clips, there are plenty of other cable connectors of all the AWG you could want. You could wire something up to your battery (make sure + and - are protected) and connect that way. I have the napa 300L and have zero issues with the clips. I use it on other vehicles as well and if someone doesn't have an option on the trail it can be shared.

I removed the Alligator clips on my Trickflate and added an Anderson connector then attached the other side to the broncos crash bar mount behind the bumper I ran that through a 150A breaker. now I can fill my tires without lifting the hood.

12v devices will never run on 120v. Well at least not long :sneaky:

@Oldhippie I'm interested in what you used for the mount

This is the way. Technically you should be using the 100A ones but I use the 50s and it's been fine.

Yeah they only had the 50A or the 150A, I was afraid the 50A would keep tripping also I wanted to be able to use this connection for Jumper cables if needed, used them on our last beach run a couple with two small kids flagged us down and needed a jump. worked like a dream.

For those looking for a hard mount option for these compressors, I recommend the JD Marz mount. @Oldhippie gave me the link a while back & I am glad I got it. John is great guy & quick to respond with any questions or issues. Thought it a little pricy at first, but love it. Beats the heck out of storing somewhere else & lugging that thing around when you need it 🤠.

I used mine (thanks Mike) to air up my 35’s with a 4-way for the first time recently. That sumbich makes some heat, be aware of this.

yea I learned my lesson the hard way first time too, knew it would be hot but didn't expect it to be THAT hot. now I just wind up the 4 way system first and wait for the compressor to cool down 😂😂
