Okay, I was putting the middle panel on the bronco with a friend and we chipped the flimsy fiberglass top on one side. Literally less than a two inch chip. I put touch up paint over it and no one could see it.

Except…I can. And I can feel the now rough edges. And I can’t get it out of my head.

Don’t get me wrong. I off-road this thing. Ive earned my pinstripes and more. But I can’t move past this one! I know. It sounds crazy. I’ve never had this with any other vehicle.

This happen to anyone else???? Is there some sort of Bronco Derangement Syndrome?

Go park near an F4 tornado and when your Bronco comes out of that … drivable.

I have so many scratches and dings in mine, and most of them I can tell you which trail (or parking lot), and what beer I was drinking at the time, and who was on the trail with me. They all end up part of the story. Even the dumb parking lot ones.

I hear ya, 3 days after I picked my bronco up, I went camping with some buddies. Loaded a bunch of firewood in the back, and ended up scuffing the hell out of the rear plastic. 3 years later and a replacement tailgate from being rear ended by an uninsured driver, it's all part of the experience.

I wouldn't worry too much about it the top is probably going to start cracking on you anyway.

I have too many battle scars to count just the way it is meant to be.

I use my vehicles (I daily my model A & my bronco has rock rash and “stripes”) so have pretty much gotten over worrying about such stuff but I did have to sell my ‘56 ford pickup because I felt bad driving it around, it was “too nice”…

Just over a month of ownerships I got some scuff and dings from trails, all part of the experience and no bother at all
But when I swapped the hard top for the soft top I scratched both roll bars bad... now that's another story to tell 😏

Ha - I had a broom leaning against the wall in the Garage. Somehow, it got knocked down and just put a small scratch in the door that I flinch EVERY time I see when I enter the Bronco. Ugh! I don't want to paint the whole door, so I just call it 'Trail rash'.

I picked my bronco up new on 12/30 or so and it was raining. Wasn't til I was able to fawn over it later in the sun that I noticed the ford paint shop left a pretty good gouge in hood that was filled with clear coat. Once I saw that I didn't give a shit about the scratches and what not incurred on trails or road rocks. Past weekend I almost send a door into the edge of a rock / trench / tree combo when I tipped to the passenger side. Fortunately had a buddy on standby to push the tilt back down. That one would not have buffed out...

Trust me, I get it. I don't have an answer other than "it only has as much value as you assign to it." Not an immediate relief, but a mindset you have to establish over time.

All you can do is chalk it up as a life lesson. Appreciate the lesson and avoid the issue in the future.

Is it flush? Can you do anything to fill it in and repaint to make it look better? When these things happen, they bother me until I do what I deem 'everything I can*' to make it look as good as possible. It's never perfect, but it doesn't bother me anymore at that point.

* meaning outside of replacing or repainting a whole part.

Let me help you out....

You are right its clearly un-acceptable.
I would get my local paint shop to fix that up like new.
I would pay for it and be happy about it.

The Bronco will make me a poor man.

To be clear I am not being scarcastic.
