Did the ball break off during a suspension install? If so, what happened?
I agree, there has to be a story in there somewhere

I got mine to let go by hosing it down with WD 40 and letting it sit overnight. Then a pretty good whack with a 4lb sledge.

Next time 5 min on YouTube my man. That tool was the place to start, glad you got it done.
I may be the only person on here who absolutely hates watching a 5 min youtube video for what amounts to "hit it here with a hammer" or "Use this tool"

One more to go. Starting tomorrow. Hope I don’t find myself here again šŸ˜‚
Props for being willing to admit your mistakes during your learning experience. If you run into any issues on the other side, just know that you have a captive audience willing to assist.

No you’re not the only one.
You certainly need to weed through the junk video hucksters. I normally watch a few videos, days before so I can see if anything changed or if I have never done the task before so I know what I’m getting into and be prepared. But damn nothing is safe from click bait and wannabes posting videos they have no business making.

Which steering bolt? The one I’m looking at is still in. The bolt has to come all the way out because there’s a groove around that shaft so it can’t come off if the bolt gets loose . and you can drive a screwdriver or small chisel in the slot to spread it open if you need to.

Yeah that 10mm bolt is out now. That was my before pic so I can compare when reconnecting it. I’ll try a bigger screwdriver. Mine might be too small 😬

I would go ahead and soak anything else you plan to remove with some penetrating oil.

Yep, you need to spread the yolk open & then it should slide out. Make sure you mark it before taking it apart 🤠
