99.9999% of people who would see this truck on the road have no idea who Bill Stroppe is. They see the black tailgate and will think it’s ugly and wonder why the tailgate doesn’t match. The first thought that comes to mind is the vehicle was in an accident and has a replacement tailgate that hasn’t been repainted yet. Maybe because the owner can’t afford it. Who wants to drop $70k+ on a vehicle to look that way to most people on the road?

Ford blew it with respect to balancing authenticity with aesthetic appeal. The black hood is fine. It’s niche but common enough that some people will get it and recognize it’s purpose. We have a history of street racer culture after all. The tailgate was a fuckup that happened in some conference room and Ford likely knows it all too well by now.

For me, I never have considered what others thought of a vehicle that I purchased while driving. The only opinion that matters is my own. It's weird to me that others give a damn what strangers think of what vehicle they drive.

But since you are so hung up on the black tailgate, anyone that can afford $70k+ can afford a wrap or to paint the tailgate if it is that much of a problem.

You buy your vehicles to please 99.9999% of the population? 😉
Yeah, I don’t get the black tailgate either, but what passerbys think sure wouldn’t stop me from buying what I wanted.

Congratulations. You’re an outlier based on a century of data regarding psychology and the marketing of automobiles.

EDIT: No insult intended. It really shouldn’t be something people care much about.

I drive an REB Heritage, so no. 🙂

I’m talking about the market at large and why this vehicle is sitting on lots for months without selling, even at significant discounts.

Probably close to or under sticker.
I’ll guess the latter.
I mean there’s 7 on auto trader within 100 miles of me, so it’s not like they’re difficult to get.
One dealer in my area has eight of them. I haven’t checked the stickers on all of them, but the ones I did look at indicate they have probably been on the lot since May +/-

They are not very rare or special to "flip", just a mass produced "special edition" trim to get rid of some 2d bodies that don't sell well as other trims.

Maybe if you store it for 20 years with factory miles it might be valuable for someone's collection.

I really like the Stroppe, but pricing is why it's flopped. Even as a 2 door owner, if I went to a dealer and saw the Stroppe next to a Braptor, and they were nearly the same price, I know which vehicle I'm leaving with. It needs to have its MSRP dropped by at least $10k.
