Nice setup, looks very capable. Interesting hood setup. Is that all one piece? I'm wondering about the front air foil/deflector with the LEDs. A single upgrade, or did you piece it together?
Thanks. Pieced together. The functional but “unnecessary” hood is ADV/fiberglass, wrapped. DZ trail sight deletes. AVS bug deflector/light strip adhered on the hood. It all needs some cleaning up for wire routing, alignment etc but still looks and works great.

TY. Happy with mine, but yours looks nice, like a Raptor adaptation. Glad to see you're enjoying your truck!

Hidden winches r nice to look at that’s about it. Personally I want my winch in a position where I can see it working in action, being able to monitor how it is spooling up, etc. IMO the factory Warn winch is the way to go especially at its current price like u mentioned. Get the cover for it too so it stays in top mechanical shape if/when you need to use it.

I think the issue with the OEM one, is the camera/ACC and trying to maintain their functionality. At least it is for myself

While slightly harder to see the Hammer Built it is fine to monitor... You can see it clearly through the fairlead and they actually put a light right on it.... It is mounted upside down and easy to access the free spool lever from the side.... 4 bolts to remove the factory skid plate and you have full unrestricted access to the whole thing. I do understand the access and desire to "see" it spooling. And while neither is quite as good as a bumper mount, they are not that bad. The pros are it is highly protected and out of the way for the 99.9999% of the time you are not using it.

Oh and also... I guess on the con side, but for me it is not... You can only use a short drum winch. That is all that will fit between the intercooler charge pipes.... But that is 50 feet.... I carry a couple of winch line extensions and I am good.... I have never had a need to pull over 50 foot but if I did?... spool out and pull again.... This one also mounts considerably higher than the other "hidden" options... I was quizzing GreyZ about his custom job (which I really like) and designing my own when Hammer Built came out with these just a little while ago.

I guess the bigger question how many of you guys with winches actually used them on the trail? 🤭

I’ve gotten by with just a recovery rope, bridle, soft shackles, and having a buddy or two. Traction boards help too especially when building bridge over an obstacle. Winches can be very dangerous in inexperienced hands. If you travel solo you could also run into situations where you have nothing to winch too like a tree or boulder to get unstuck.

Fair point. But whenever I have been in that situation I would just remove my spare tire, bury it a bit, and use that as my winch anchor. I have had to do this a few times in the desert and always worked for me, even when my traction boards didn't.

I found this by searching the forums earlier - I actually like this idea a lot. I was thinking I could add a quick battery disconnect, and the OEM one is just held on by 6 bolts, so it may be easily removable as well. BUT, this is a great setup for adding it when needed, instead of the Bronco cosplaying at the mall

Very fair point.... the answer, hardly ever. I just installed this one so no I have not even used it yet other than testing. BUT.... For me it is a bit of freedom. Generally I do go with others and When I do I do not need a winch, but when alone, and I like to be out alone from time to time, There are places that I will not go alone. With a winch I will without hesitation. I have plenty of BIG rocks and trees all around me where I go. I also think you are suggesting I am not typical, and I would agree. I am a weird old man. I like to be with people some times and I like to be alone sometimes. I am also pretty familiar with my limits which tend to be a bit different than a lot of other people's limits. - some have limits way short of mine and some have limits way beyond mine.... I am good with that.

The more crucial things to have are deff a good tow strap, soft shackles, & traction boards but a winch does give you peace of mind when going alone or if doing the tougher trails (two things I don’t do with a newish $40k+ vehicle) so the winch is kind of overkill and just makes extra noise/adds weight.

It is all about perspectives.... Some of us do not mind taking a 130k vehicle out on the trail because that is why we purchased/built it..... I could have built a rock buggy for way less money and it would have been way more capable but that is not what I wanted. Perspectives....

Agreed with this.
I am an overlander, so a winch, pull-pal, and traction boards are critical as a lot of times I am out there in a single vehicle, and I can go 2 weeks without ever seeing another.
