Hmmm, rumble around in a slow(er), but wicked sounding V8 ....or....
hum around quickly in a silent EV ...
Most here will pick the V8.

I'm an F-body fan as well, so the V8 Camaro/Firebird will easily win my vote every time.
Electric horsepower doesn’t melt panties.

Science.

A cam will not ruin a car, or destroy it's cats, or cost thousands of dollars.
People have been putting cams in LS engines since the dawn of time.
Yes you will need a tune for most but the mildest of them but a tune is recommended for any car regardless of mods.

Exactly my point put in a cam open a can of worms first it's a tune then it's higher octane fuel haha....then fails state inspection.....for what an extra 30 HP that a simple set of light weight wheels can deliver same real world benefit.

Worth it just for lumpy idle couple with redneck exhaust though haha.

You're projecting your own prejudices and misconceptions. Your opinions do not equal fact or reality. As I said before there are too many variables for blanket statements. Each use case is different and the individual will have to weigh the cost/benefit analysis for themselves.
Final thought, I think that you think you know a lot more about this subject than you actually do.

This^

I recently bought a mint, completely stock, 06 C6 Z06 with only 15k miles. .....

......Now it’s back together, runs flawlessly and is exactly what I wanted šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

LOL!!!

I'm not a fanboy for Vette's , but I've always liked the '66 era versions (C2 ?) and here lately the C6 and C7's are catching my eye.
The C8 just got too wedgy and exotic looking for me, but I hear it is one hell of a driving machine.
If I were in the market, I'd probably pick a base C8 over the high end Camaros though ... dollar for dollar.

Without changing the intake manifold (not some cheap CAI), mass air meter, exhaust, potentially fuel injectors, and tune (right components working together) you will be disappointed in the performance and drivability. That lopy idle will want higher stall torque converter (auto trans) or steeper rear gears. Given the effort needed to swap a cam in a V8, better gains from a tune and exhaust (headers, X pipe, mufflers) will provide better bang for the buck. Also the wrong cam can overload valve springs and coil bind is a risk if not checked.

It's a 20 year old car, keep it stock and enjoy the lack of technology. If you modify it you'll mess the car up and hurt its value.

....
. Okay, so if I buy the car in the photo below (LS1 Trans am early 2000’s) is it lame or not cool if I do NOT get a cam on it. The vehicle you are looking at has under 30,000 miles on it.
....
I love the car for what it is and think changing certain characteristics may change the spirit of the vehicle.
....
It depends on what you want from it. A bigger cam will usually give up some low rpm power to gain more hp at higher rpm's. Just driving it around at normal 'citizen' speeds, it may be less responsive and could even feel lazier. If you drive it like a street racer and wind it out in every gear to 4,000-6,000 rpm, sure, it will have more power.

It's extremely important to pick the right cam for how you are going to drive it!
You could choose a mild-ish cam that will improve performance under normal use. You could also choose a cam that is too big and will make the car a dog at normal driving speeds.
A bigger cam will usually require new valve springs to handle the extra valve lift.
It's not gonna be cheap, do you really want to spend another $2k on it?

It's a nice car as is. Given the low mileage, I wouldn't mess with it. It's probably worth more as an unmodified original than it would be if it was modified.
If you really plan to drive it hard and want more power (and spend lots of $$), then go ahead and modify it.
