When the time comes.. I'd like to replace my stock non-sas BB stuff with something subjectively better.

While going full ham and getting a setup that really excels in crawling.. a more realistic route to go for my use-case would be getting into a setup that Performs better than stock at higher speeds while not sacrificing too too much crawlability.

My reasoning for staying away from SAS stuff is to keep all possible articulation. I currently have a 2" tophat lift, but when the time comes I'll be switching to a 1" tophat/1" preload spacer combo.

Thoughts?

The Bilstein adjustable 5100s would be worth a look. Would do what you describe and you could do away w/ the top-hat and pre-load spacer.

I did Badlands NON-SAS take-offs & love it!
Just better in every comparison, as well as a slight lift from the factory Hitachi shocks.
I do not do rock crawling, but I am sure a stock Badlands is very capable straight from the factory?
Let us know what you end up doing?

Lots if folks like eibach & bilstein 5100/6100s as replacements for non Sasquatch setups…there is a big step in price and performance after that…increasing articulation (especially in the front) is a whole other problem…

Those do look like they might be the ticket, thanks!

I want to still utilize a tophat spacer after the switch-up because I don't want to lose 2" of droop. I've always ran tophat spacer lifts for the reason that they don't meaningfully effect ride quality.. but.. none of my other rigs were as hypersensitive as a bronco. I'm willing to compromise a little ride quality to save on my equipment a bit.

I'm not necessarily after more articulation.. just don't want to lose any.. and factory SAS suspension doesn't offer as much of it according to this thread :

https://www.bronco6g.com/stock-suspension-calculations-and-measurements/

I forget what page it's detailed on.. and I forget how much you lose out on.. but any at all is too much for me.

That thread seems like it deserves a sticky too honestly..

Love our Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 coilovers. They are height adjustable and ride better than the stock hitachis. I have a non sas BD now on 35’s.

I don't believe you will loose 2" of droop by not using a tophat. TBH I'd be more concerned of having too much droop causing bad CV angles.

The Sas coil overs don't have as much articulation as a non-Sas BL (.5" less than BL) but they have much more articulation than the OEM BB Hitachi's.

Yes Sasquatch front shocks have a longer bump stop (easy to trim) that limits up travel about 1/2”…non Sasquatch badlands has a shorter bump stop on the same shocks…just an aside your non Sasquatch front cv joints have about 1/4”-1/2” less ”safe” droop than stronger Sasquatch CVs…

Bilstein 6112s with their springs are the hot setup. Great on the road, better than the stock Badlands Bilsteins, got about 1.5-2" lift as to not throw off the front end geometry too much and they are great at Windrock.

Does anyone have the extended & collapsed lengths of non-sas non-BL hitachis?

Without knowing for certain the extended/collapsed lengths of my current shocks it's impossible to be certain.. but presumably If I were to use the adjustable circlip deal on the bilstiens to get the 2" of lift I need it would indeed be reducing my droop by 2".. no? At least compared to my current setup where ive lost 0 factory droop.

The more preload you run the less droop you have. Compared to If I ran a 1" tophat and then set the bilstiens to 1" I'd only be losing 1" droop.. which I'd be alright with.

If the bilstiens have more stroke than the hitachis then that would change things.. especially If I could indeed get my 2" from just the circlip without losing more than 1" of droop compared to stock.

Either way.. seems like the bilstiens are the winning pick for when it's time.. just gotta hammer out the rest of the deets lol.

Reducing my cv angles while at full extention is a lot of the driving force behind wanting to switch it up a bit.. I wanna try getting airborne.. don't wanna explode a cv though 😋

I bought a non sas Badlands. I have a Fabtech leveling kit and Fabtech tie rods on it. I like the look and when I was at Bronco Off Rodeo the guides thought I had a lift on it. I also like the looks of the smaller fenders on it.

My 6100s ride amazing both on and offroad.

Toyota Tacoma
Bilstein 5100s win.

Toyota Tacoma
Bilstein 8100s win.
Fox 2.5s were worse than stock on the Tacoma...

Their test with the 6100/6112s is coming soon.
