New 2025 Bronco heritage manual. Bad snow storm. Slowing down I miss downshifted into 4th instead of 2nd. Engine bogged down below 800 rpm. Quickly shifted into 2nd trying to recover. And nothing. No power. Engine wouldn’t go above 800 rpm. Quickly shifted to fist and same problem. No power!!!! Had to stop in the middle of busy snowy road turn off then back on. Went back to normal.

went to a parking lot to try and replicate it. And sure enough. Miss a shift (causing the engine to bog) and there is zero power to recover in any gear. until you come to an almost complete stop. Then it seems to reset.
I had a 2022 badlands 7MT and never had this issue.
anyone else have this experience?
This was pretty scary situation my bronco put me in. Not impressed.

Edit: added video of reproducing the problem

My jeep would actually do that. You had to stop and idle or turn it off for it to “wake back up”

Wow, that seems like a dangerous situation, if it is "normal" behavior! Yikes! 😱

Yikes. Sounds like the vehicle thinks it has stalled and is waiting for the auto restart to happen and it’s disabling the throttle. Doesn’t happen on my ‘22.
Yes… that’s a good description.

Yeah my Jeep did that too. Pentastar w 6 MT. If I almost stall it - but catch it - it basically needed a restart to get back to normal.

So if you pushed in the clutch, the engine would not rev up ... seems very odd. Maybe some kind of safety feature? I have been driving manuals for many years and multiple vehicles and never has this happened.

Yeah if that's a new 'feature' to get a manual, I'll skip it, thanks. I love manuals but with the lack of availability I haven't had one in a few years now...but if it kills power due to a missed shift...That's kinda useless.

I have not experienced this yet. I’ll have to test it. It “should” shut down/stall and restart upon clutch.

Since you can replicate it, I would get it on video, and then get to the Ford dealer asap and show them in person too.

Interesting, I haven’t experienced this on my ‘23. I suppose I’ve never missed a shift in that direction, but not sure. Something to watch out for.

I've definitely never experienced that on my '22 Badlands 7MT, like you and others have said, and I've missed some downshifts before. Maybe they changed something about the mechanics?
