Nice! Is that style more for deep water fording or better cooling due to the location?
Water wont hurt the IC. This is more to get the IC up out of the way so the winch does not block it when mounting the winch between the frame rails.

Keep the IC high and the winch tucked in so you don't kill the approach angle.

I have seen a few Broncs that have smashed the front skid enough that it also smashed the IC when it is mounted down there. Not a big fan of that trans cooler down there either but I'm running out of space to move shit to.

Is that the Lobo off-road kit or did you fabricate yourself?

DIY. Had the local metal shop bend up some plate then just trimmed it up and drilled some holes in it. The center of the bumper had a tube and mesh in there, so I cut that out and bolted the angled plate in there. Worked out pretty good for the bumper not being designed to have a winch in there.

That bumper has a winch mount similar to Fords setup. Bolted up out in front of the bumper.

Makes sense.

Guilty. The high mount is what I'm eventually doing to replace it with. Do the pipes protrude forward any more that the original IC? I only have 1/4" to spare.

That is a good question I never measured it, but I can. I dug through my photos and found these. It looks like it is about the same distance, hard to tell. There is just no brick in the middle anymore, it's in the grille now. I will post some pics with measurements later.

Looking up. The big round hole to the left is the IC mounting flange. The small hole in the tab to the right is where the stock skid bolts up.

Sounds like it might work, I'll take a look. Thanks!

Have you noticed any changes in water/operating temps since install?

Operating temperatures are the same. Haven’t monitored the intake air temperatures yet but I can tell that the heat soak doesn’t happen. No power lost after idling for longer periods of time. The stock one was very noticeable after longer idling periods.

Much better throttle response, heat soak is no more, and it has much better drivability overall with the Ford Performance tune and the other upgrades. It really complimented all of the upgrades. It's a really fun vehicle to drive now.

I just did the high mount Mishi intercooler. Along with the Ford Tune, charge pipes, CAI and Fast Intentions exhaust this thing is punchier then ever, and it feels like it compliments all the other performance mods.

Nice! I’ve got the tune not sure if the intercooler is CA Carb legal. I need to see. You know I need more Baja juice!
