Ford Performance DIff Cover paint chipping

I've had the differential cover installed about a year now and have had no issues. I'm in south Louisiana though. No salty roads here.

Looks like your paint is cracking too.

Most, if not all, high end aftermarket diff covers are made of cast aluminum. Cheap knock off. Pass.

2 years on the truck...hopefully it stays like this.

Just walked around the back end and noticed my hardware was rusting. Took a pic and then noticed rust and degrading paint. Will have to try to contact FP.

Mine looks good so far. I used bolts @CarbonSteel had recommended so not the FP hardware.

Dang I didn't notice it. I guess performance doesn't equal quality. I'll have to contact FP and see what they say.

I used hardware he recommended as well. It’s possible I didn’t read something correctly...

Did you just paint over the powdercoat that was on it? Or did you strip it all off first?

Since I got a replacement from FP, I’m trying to make sure it doesn’t start rusting out again.
Although living in the Midwest, I’m not sure that’s possible

Spray it with the black version of Woolwax or FluidFilm. Problem solved.

@broadicustomworks painted it but I think he just did a basic prep to spray over as opposed to fully stripping it.

Yeah I washed it down with a grease remover, sanded it with 600, painted over the existing paint.

Also, fwiw, I emailed FP about and they are sending a replacement (might just get that new one powder coated from the start)

mine looked exactly like this within a month of installation. I primed and painted it with Ford Silver paint. It looks great for the time being lol

I contacted Ford Performance and provided my order information along with a photo. They are sending me out a new cover free of charge. The support was super easy to deal with and got back to me pretty quickly.

I also contacted Ford Performance about the paint flaking and chipping on my Differential cover. They are sending me a new one
