Mt navigation system is up for renewal. I am tempted not to renew and just use Google maps.
Any suggestions please?

I never used mine while it was still active. I've since thought about turning it back on. I was headed out to one of the forest service roads here, and I am not familiar with the area. Used Waze as usual, but then I lost signal, and wasn't sure what turns needed to be made. I swapped over to the built in nav eventually, which helped but enlightened me to the possibility that I might have to do some navigation without cell service. I've not paid for it /yet/ but I think it would probably be a smart pick up as a backup plan. While I primarily use Waze, I did just renew mine. Took a few trips up to Northern Michigan last summer and there were a couple times where the there wasn't any cell service and ended up using the built-in navigation.
While not a huge fan of AI and all the assist nannies (I'm old and like the feeling of being in control and imagining my vehicles need me actively engaged with them ... a symbiotic relationship, if sorts), I noted on my drive yesterday, while I kept my eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, Alexa faithfully followed commands to change my satellite radio station, adjust my thermostat control by +2 degrees, and provide guided nav directions to my destination.Mt navigation system is up for renewal. I don’t see a $5 subscription option on their website. Do you signup for one of the regular Roam plans and then change to Standby for $5/mo and can stay in that mode indefinitely?2) Starlink if you are that worried. Only thing that makes you lose service there is being stuck under an overpass, and a $5 subscription gives you unlimited (not fast, but fast enough) data,
Yes, that's it exactly.I don’t see a $5 subscription option on their website. Do you signup for one of the regular Roam plans and then change to Standby for $5/mo and can stay in that mode indefinitely?
