Oh yeah, it's a hot take of mine, do not disagree. That’s a pretty steaming hot take Rag. The only way it’s noticed is if gain structures are wrong? Burbling fake engine noises played under your music don’t alter the audio quality? Right.
fact is adding amps raises volume in the front stage unless you pick a low power amp or configure it wrong (like all the harness makers for the Key 200 do BTW). Better kick panel speakers with sound treatment further increase the frequencies where that rumble sits. It’s not a gain problem on amps.
the only thing I might agree on there is that a lot of people don’t notice the sound when everything is still stock. And everyone SHOULD feel duped by fake exhaust sounds piped into what you described as an already noisy interior. It’s literally fake sound made to fool the driver.
I guess my overall point is this: If you don't notice it—and frankly most people don't—then it was done well and it's working as intended. Even most people with aftermarket audio setups don't notice. Often the only time you do is when you set the gains too high, or your overall audio system is unbalanced. Neither of which is "wrong" to be honest, audio is a very personal opinion/subjective thing. Some people just prefer... say... more bass that what your average audio guy might consider to be balanced.
But I've got into some heated discussions with people about it in the past. One of my good buddies, for example, is one of the audiophile types and he had fake engine noise on his Toyota. Of course, he didn't notice until he installed aftermarket amps, and now that he's noticed it, he's pissed it exists.
His argument was that the fake engine noise is effectively false-advertising, and manufactures shouldn't be "tricking" their customers. I don't really view it that way to be honest, and don't think any of the manufactures are advertising "authentic engine noise". If the fake noise improves user experience, then I don't see an issue. BUT, yes, I acknowledge that many will disagree with that. Obviously, a matter of personal opinion.
That said, the obvious simple solution to make everyone happy is just to make it a configurable setting without the need for external software. (I'm not aware of anyone that does that though.)
You don't. But if you have a 2023 Black Diamond like your profile says, then it's not turned on anyway.Ah man, what if one doesn’t have a foreskin, then how do I turn it off?
