Two weeks ago, I picked up my new Bronco Badlands with the 2.7L. I have purchased dozens of new cars/trucks, gas and diesel, in my lifetime. I treat the engine carefully for the first 250 miles, and then I drive it as normal. I've never had an engine that burned oil or had any other issues.

I picked up the Bronco in Denver and drove it to St. George, UT. As soon as I hit I-15, I was up to 80 mph, the speed limit, all the way to St. George. The Bronco ran like a champ, and not one drop of oil was burned.

I'll change the oil and filter at 1,500 miles, and then every 3,000 miles thereafter. Clean oil = long engine life.

Take the above information as you wish. I can only say it has worked well for me.

PS. Never trust the Ford manual when it comes to fluid changes, engine, transmission, and rearend/frontend.
Maybe 3K miles if you're using conventional oil.

I will use synthetic which is where the 10K figure comes from. I will change it early the first time, but will change around 6000 - 7000 after that.

I feel like they say 10K figuring you will need a new vehicle sooner.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is don't be afraid to build up a little cylinder pressure to help seat the rings. Get some boost and throttle going up a hill (obviously don't lug it, though) but keep the rpm reasonable.

Once mine gets here, I'm going to do an oil and filter change at 1000 miles with Ford's 5W-30 oil, then run that out to 5000 miles and switch to HPL afterwards.

And so far so good except that I’m hearing rattling or clattering sound when it’s idling I’m not so keen on that. I’m gonna wait till 1000 miles to make the first oil change I think.. also I mentioned to the dealer that the Toyota dealers in this part of the country have special trim levels and wondering if ford does the same thing and he says what did you have in mind and I said how about a V8 and he said well, we’ll see what we can do and so that’s what they could do !

I bought mine last Thursday and drove it 400 miles on Saturday. About 200 one way, then 200 back about 2 hours later.

I let my wife drive it, so we went as slow as humanly possible lol.

At least mine nearly sounds like a diesel while idling, then quiets down once it switches fully over to direct injection. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2.7s are similar

My 2.7 has always been quiet. I'll see about recording a startup for you.
