Not sure what is worse, fake/pumped in engine noise to annoy the owner or aftermarket exhaust to annoy everyone around you?

Just stop with the aftermarket exhaust on your 4cyl and 6cyl engines people. They don't ever sound like a proper 8cyl. Just watch the wave of people rolling there eyes as you drive past.
So much this. But I'd be interested in an aftermarket exhaust that makes it quieter without impacting performance.

So at the end of five pages, we more than likely have some type of fake sound IF we have the Lux package.

Does it occur with and without the stereo on?

If we disable it in Forscan are there any pro’s or Con’s?

So there's two lines of codes, one is for software ANC which both a Base model and Lux model have the same setting which is on. The other line of code is inside the DSP itself which only applies to B&O systems. I think this is more of a hardware ANC and uses CAN data to determine how to attack nuisance frequencies. The software ANC uses the vehicles microphone to make attempts at countering them.

Like I said it's less of fake ass engine noise and more of eliminating bad tones which can affect how the engine does sound in the cabin. It's very very weak though and nothing near as detailed and accurate as a pair of Bose headphones with noise cancellation. But it is present on all models I have looked at for As-Builts, regardless of engine or package.

Hey, if I'm wrong, I'm all ears! I've seen in multiple places (including here on the forums) where people have mentioned the fake engine sound, and it makes sense with what I'm seeing.
I remember hearing about fake engine sound in some drive modes, but there is definitely no fake engine sound in Normal or Eco. I have not had a chance to try the others yet.

As someone else said, if they were going to pump fake engine noise in, you think they'd at least make it sound nice. My 2.3L is horrid sounding, lol.

That’s how I felt after going from the 2.7 to the 3.0 in the Raptor. They made the 2.7 sound meaty enough without needing to worry Vin Diesel was going to invite you to his family BBQ. Meanwhile that 3.0 🤮

The only thing I ever hear is the little whistle hiss noise when I hit the pedal. God I love that sound. I don’t even care if it’s fake

Yea, first I’m hearing about fake engine sounds pumped in on the Bronco.
Usually it is pumped out. This is a teal thing although do not know if our Broncos have it. Fake V8 sounds first appeared several years ago on Mustangs that sounded like Fusions, lol.

And electric vehicles I believe are required to make noise at stoplights so that the blind know they are there. My ICE vehicles, however make no noise other than radio when engine shuts off when stopped. But they do male noise while stopping

Make sure your signal wires arent ran together in the same channel as your power wires. Run one down the drivers side and the other down the passenger.

I'm not convinced there's anything there, I have LUX and kicked it around today a bit with roof down and windows open, outside sounds the same as inside to me. And in no way like a Singer sewing machine, I'd suggest to get a new one if your's sounds like my engine, LOL. I'll test some more sitting in the trunk with my son driving, want do do that anyway to figure out where some noise is coming from, should be obvious then if there's a different engine in the subwoofer than outside.

So, this thread started yesterday, and I already had plans to upgrade my stereo (LUX B&O) today. I made a point to listen to the engine in Sport mode before and after the upgrade.
The exhaust/engine is noticably quieter after the stereo upgrade. I'm probably going to use Eco mode more often as it almost sounds the same now, inside the cabin.
I spoke with my installer, and it looks like it's because I'm using a ZEN-A2B / DSP12A-A2B, which filters it out. I'll try and pull my dash cam footage tomorrow and see if it's still got some before footage, and after. Hopefully it's not just hours of the install shop working on the stereo 😆

Edit to add: Yeah, most of the footage was just of a wall in the car audio shop, and then driving around town with the upgraded stereo. No before footage. Sorry y'all. The "enhanced" sound that the LUX package gave Sport mode was intense though, and I kind of miss it. :sneaky:

My ol Acura TL has an interference feedback hiss only upon acceleration that sounds just like a supercharger… I might just miss that fake engine sound.
