I only have 103k miles on my 2021 Bronco 2.7, so as far as initial break-in goes, I have had a good experience with the motor... Maybe when I hit 250k miles, I might have a different impression of the motor.

Did the 2.7 engine improve?

There is a narrow range of late '2021-early '22 2.7's that had a recall for bad intake valves that could fail. The VIN will determine if a particular vehicle is affected. Plenty of good info regarding this from the F150 Gen14 forum.

We had a '21 Edge with the valve recall. Only a small batch of engines are affected across a bunch of models. Coincidentally, Ford sent the recall notice which started us on the path to owning a Bronco. The new Bronco has the 2.7 liter and I'm not concerned. More concerned about other stuff breaking!

From my perspective (3.5 f150), I thought the 2.7 would be a rocket. Ford neutered 1st gear with torque management... I was really disappointed with this, and it can be dangerous. Several times I stopped the gas to pull it and the things falls on it's face.
The Procal helps with shifting, but 2nd gear launching is so much better.

I have found it is better to give it a little gas than flooring it from a dead stop. Seems to get going a little faster.

As you said, it's a narrow window of manufacturing dates. Generally speaking it's a solid engine.
Actually, that was my point. OP asked if the 2.7 has been improved and here is one area where it was. Something worth checking on before buying an older one though. I've been plenty happy with my 2.7 and had zero issues.
My '23 2.7 has been perfect in 2 years and 16k miles. I don't think the cam phaser issue was anywhere near as common in the 2.7 as in the Gen 1 3.5. The '21-'22 2.7 did have a small batch of engines with defective valve seats that could drop and ruin the engine. Ford resolved that problem under a recall and replaced all affected engines is my understanding. I don't think there's anything to worry about with either the 2.3 or 2.7 engines.

Actually there is no fix for this yet. The recall specifies inspection of the engine but does not identify a repair as of yet.
I just went through this with my 2021 Ford edge st 2.7 liter engine.
Ford is of the opinion that engines that were going to fail probably already failed. March through October 2021. That said, a recall indicates that the problem isn't over.
We traded in the Edge when we got our Bronco because I didn't want to own a live grenade.

If you change your oil 5000 mile at the most, the cam phasers problems don't seem happen too often . Dirty oil causes most of the problems.... but Gregg I change mine like the book says... 7500- 10,000 is just too long. Take the money you save on oil and buy the new improved phaser.

My 17 3.5 just started the rattle at 77000 miles..I'm bummed about it but I love the truck and the power so much I'm gonna drop the dough and keep on truckin...gonna be about $3800.to 4500 to fix...I expect it to happen now at some point to my 2.7 but don't care...ill fix it as well..
All gen 2 2.7’s have port and direct.
So the Bronco has always had it.

It's a fairly straight forward repair. We just yank your engine out, tear apart the front of it, slap some new phasers in it, jam it back in and voila! Fixed!
Of all the Broncos we service we have done 3 phaser repairs, pretty straight forward repair. 2.7 is nothing, think of all the guys that own the 3.5's in 150's and Raptors!

Interesting you mentioned that I was getting a slight chatter at cold start up for a couple of seconds up until about 12,000 mi when I stopped using the Ford motor oil and switched over to Valvoline full synthetic. Problem solved.
