My wife has a Sport (and absolutely adores it) so it applies to my household. I tried to talk her into the full sized, but the Sport has a much more refined interior, and she loves the AWD aspect she doesn't have to think about.

She doesn't offroad at all - the occasional bit of snow and that's about it.

I got this email (and a bunch of other Sync 3 emails) before I realized my old Ford that got totaled via a suicidal oak tree was still registered to my Ford account.

I received the email for my wife's 2023 Explorer. Good timing as the display screen is already jacked up. Is "customer satisfaction program" a new way of saying recall ?

If the Sport was RWD instead of FWD, and had a stick shift, I would have bought one. Same with the Mav.

Is "customer satisfaction program" a new way of saying recall ?

Yes and no. A Recall is for a safety issue that is either mandated by, or has been reported to the NHTSA. A customer satisfaction program is a program to make customers happy about something, but has not been mandated by the government.

So, Tesla updating their software to make the icons one pixel larger is a recall, but Ford replacing the early cracking hard tops was a "customer satisfaction" program.

Recalls also last the life of the vehicle, and for any owner. I just got a recall notice for my Son's 2002 Frontier for some steering linkage. Whereas a customer satisfaction program usually has an end date.

It's voluntary unlike a recall.
Meaning they didn't have to release this program, but they did anyway because of the known issue for customer satisfaction.
