Purchased a new 2024 Outer Banks about two months ago. Today I drove about 30 minutes and shut down. When I re-started about 30 minutes later, the center display was dark... no logo, no back-up camera, nothing. Drove off and a minute or so later the display appeared to be sort of re-booting and came alive appearing normal again. Drove around and made several more stops and it operated normally.

Is this something that normally happens from time to time or is it indicative of a bigger problem?

Thanks!

These big displays are basically small computers, and every now and then they do a 'self reboot' so to speak. Across Ram and Ford, we've had them take up to a couple minutes to fully come up and be functional, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for it.

It's supposed to reboot if you hold down the power button and the seek forward button for 10 seconds. That didn't work for me, I had to take off the negative battery cable to get it to fully reboot.
Thanks for the info. In this case, I didn't do anything to initiate a reboot.

Thanks for the info. Guess for now I'll keep an eye on it and hope that it's just a "normal" system function. A little disconcerting, though.

Good afternoon. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this concern regarding your display screen?

Happens to me once or twice a year.

The first time it freaked me out, but now I ignore it. *shrug*

Literally just happened to me yesterday, about the same circumstances/timing. Weirdly, my music continued to play from my iPhone.

That happened to me once after I bought mine in 2021. Thankfully it hasn't happened again (knock on wood).

Yep, it is concerning. Ford responded and asked me to DM them the VIN and dealer info, so sent that to them. Curious to see what they have to say.

It's not going to come to anything. They'll tell you to go to the dealer first. AFAICT, they do that so that the forum looks like Ford "cares" and is "helping" but it's not any help unless you've gone to the dealer and Ford decides to step in (which is rare). We're not even sure it's a real person or a chatbot.

There’s a good chance it downloaded and applied an update to SYNC. This causes the system to reboot when you first start it sometimes. Check your Ford app to see if it shows a recent update.

Yeah it's definitely something to keep an eye on, because if it happens frequently it could be a problem. But if it's only doing it once in a while it's likely normal, I've seen it happen across all brands with these big screens in them.
