Hey everyone,

First I apologize if this has been covered. I did a search and didn’t see it addressed. So I going to maybe open a can of worms.

I have two broncos that I’m considering.

1. braptor for 83k. Seems like these are cream of the crop from what I’ve seen and read. Nothing to upgrade, ready to run from factory.

2. I have a wildtrak 2023 lined up for 60k. It’s a good price and I like the rig a lot. I’ve read about upgrades and mods but it seems like it’s impossible to recreate what the braptor has from factory.

With all that said, I REALLY hate spending 23k on extras I don’t need.

My goals are modest. I want to be able to run trials in Colorado and Utah . I want t do the easy part of hells revenge. I don’t want to climb 5 foot boulders or anything too wild. I do want a smooth ride and for my family to be safe.

Would love some thoughts..

The WT will do everything you need and not look as goofy as a Braptor and you keep $23k in your pocket. Easiest question I’ve seen in months.

2dr WildTrak for me. Peak Bronco IMO. If you need the sway bar disconnect, just go with the Anti Rock.

One, I am a two door purist.

BRaptors are too expensive for what they are.

Braptors are too damn wide.

The fender flares are ugly af.

For me I would go WildTrak because it is not as wide which can be a problem for some trails. I can spend $23K extra on how I want the truck as I'm not a fan of the styling of the Bronco Raptor, but the performance is something one can't overlook either if you like high speed stuff $.02 🤠

Any mods the bronco wildtrak needs? I’ve read about steering as tie rods! Or do I just send it stock with the Hoss 3.0 system?

The width definitely has me concerned. Trails like black bear pass are Tight. Not sure if the raptor will even fit.

Wild track for me as well. You shouldn’t need any mods for a WT in my opinion besides running boards. Braptor is nice and all I wouldn’t pay that much for a Bronco tbh. If you wanna pay this much then maybe consider something like a Lexus GX, Defender 110 or something non plastic on the interior. You can even make it work in a badlands in my opinion

I think you just told us your answer. The Wildtrak. I crossed this bridge too. I could not justify the extra cash. The Raptor in my opinion is a weekender. Built for HD offroad applications. Use the extra cash for modifications.

Hoss 3.0 is strong enough for 99% of Bronco owners.

It’s a tough call for sure. Leaning towards the wildtrak.

Your stated driving goals are probably more akin to the Badlands, if even that as opposed to. WT or Raptor. The WT is purpose built for speed over open terrain, at least more so than the Badlands, which is focused on crawling. And the Raptor is in class by itself bar none for Baja style high speed desert running. The Raptor is approximately 10 inches wider than standard Broncos to facilitate stability during high velocity over uneven topography, so yeah, it is wide, it’s fender flares are ugly, it has poor rear view visibility due to the 37 inch spare tire and triple brake light, it is challenging to park in confined city driving ( and many low level clearance parking garages), and mpg is nominal. And I wouldn’t trade mine for anything. My recommendation is to buy either a WT or Badlands, they are both great vehicles.

I would take a Badlands squatch over a Wildtrack.

The WT is more than enough. If you want to keep everything stock, the WT is the way to go. The only thing to add is a manual sway bar disconnect or similar modification.

If you want to modify it a bit, I would probably want to start with a Badlands non-Sasquatch. This assumes that you would upgrade the suspension as the WildTrak does have the better suspension out of the box.

In reality, prior to 2024, any of the advanced 4x4 transfer case equipped Broncos with a modest suspension upgrade and 35's would get it done (with regard to your goals). However, because we are talking about new Broncos the only way to get the good transfer case is the non-sasquatch Badlands or any Sasquatch equipped Bronco to include the WT.

With regards to recreating the Raptor for $23k more, you probably can't... But you could put the WildTrak on portals and that would be sick. It's different from the Raptor but in other ways more capable... Depends on the goal... Rock crawling, I would take the WildTrak on portals - high speed desert it's the Raptor all day long.
