Begging Ford for the 5.0

Coyote 🥱 I love a V8 but it will never happen in the Bronco. If it does it will be well over $100k and few people couldn't afford to buy it. I mean the DR is well over $300k and the Raptor R is about $110 to $130k. Maybe ford should develop a smaller V8 like the 289. Also remember the bronco is on the Ranger T6 platform not the f150 platform. As far as making power, boosted engines make peak torque and HP at a much lower RPM than a naturally aspirated engine. So the bigger engine does have to almost rev to red line before making peak torque and HP. Essentially having to rev high to get the power needed to do work.

Not even Hennessy is stuffing one in yet and they stuff something into everything. Ford won't do it unless like someone said above its a 1 of 30 special edition that will have a bidding war and price tag in the 6-figures and probably be in a Braptor.

People been asking for v8 in Bronco since 2020. Ford didn't listen. My only requirements were 2 doors and a manual.

Nah you gotta go back to mid-2019 when people started talking about it.

Sad part is, IF ford would've offered a standard V8 (doesn't need to be some 500hp monster) from the start, and priced it somewhere in $5000 range for the upgrade, I bet you would've seen more V8 Broncos than anything else.

But like everyone is saying, if Ford were to do that today, it'd be like the Jeep 392, over $100k.

My friends brand new F150 5.0 lasted a whole 2500 miles before it blew up... its all just luck of the draw these days. i will say the eco boosts seem to have more frequent problems. But i wonder if that's because they they put them in everything. The mustang and f150 are the only vehicles with the 5.0 as to where the 2.3 and 2.7 are in 3-4 different vehicles.

It would be neat but it's not going to happen in the current era where even Chryslers has gone away from the V8. Ford is scaling back Bronco production as interest in the vehicle dwindles at the current price ranges. I simply don't think the market is hungry for more expensive options nor do I think it's economically feasible for Ford. If automakers catered to forum enthusiasts, they would go out of business quickly as we represent the more hardcore and niche buyer. The average consumer with average expectations are where the money is made unfortunately.

Wishlists wishlists. Don’t you realize Ford builds what THEY want, NOT the consumer? It’s THEIR Bronco. Not yours. Although the V-8 would align with Doughboy’s latest “we need more off-road performance vehicles” nobody wants or can afford.

I also think that Ford is limiting the 2.7L because of CAFE also, thus why it’s been dropped in the Big Bend and other trims.

The only thing V8 offers over the turbo V6 is a better exhaust note, otherwise it has nothing else over it.

Agreed. The forced induction engine comes at the cost of complexity though. Aside from the glorious sound, that complexity is what drives my desire for the V8 is simplifying the engine. Truthfully I'd be nearly as happy with a larger cube V6 to reduce the volume of tubing and number of seals and lines.

I've always wondered why Ford didn't put the Raptor 3.5l in a the Braptor. They already have the engine 450/510 instead of 418/420 hp/tq. The Braptor hp/tq is almost the same as the 5.0 but just a little more. Good friend just bought a new Tremor 5.0 and it's underwhelming but sounds good, our little 2.7l is much quicker but sounds bad. But a supercharged 5.0 would be awesome!

The link below is a sample race with the F-150s demonstrating that the lower end torque advantage of the 2.7 helps it actually be quicker than the 5.0 in this particular sample of 2 stock vehicles. Yeah, I'd also love the deeper sound of a V8, and there are some really quick 5.0 F-150's out there being built with Whipple superchargers. But just like we don't see Rangers and Explorers with 5.0 Coyote motors, we won't be seeing one in a Bronco unless it's a swap by an aftermarket shop. And the way high priced Raptors are sitting and being heavily discounted indicates there is lessening demand for $90+k high end trucks. Far more of us in the under $60k group...

A full second quicker for the 2.7l really surprises me, our Bronco is a 2 dr so probably another .25-.5 quicker than an F150. Wow the seat of the pants dyno felt faster just not that much!

Don't know about you guys, but back in the day I owned a few 5.0 Fox Body mustangs with gears & bolt-ons and my tuned 2.7L Bronco is faster and makes more power than every single one of them. Does the Bronco sound as good? Hell no... but it's still a blast to drive and I can pretty much take it anywhere I want... I love trolling V8 guys on a daily. They hate on the Ecoboost exhaust note, so I make them listen to it as I pass them -lol
