Does anyone know the bolt size for the negative terminal?

Does anyone have the part number to get the whole set up for the positive (red) part with terminal posts, fuse, and terminal protective cover?

So.... A little late to the game but I just went through this today. Yesterday I stripped the M6 stud as I was trying to wrestle two 6 gauge cables on it. I'm not going to play innocent here, I'm used to hauling on battery connections so I'm sure I wasn't gentle. I was, however, quite shocked when it let loose with what I considered very little pressure.

I wanted two working terminals and i have only had the Bronco for a few months, so I figured I'd head to the Ford dealer to replace my first broken component.

The terminal, I was told apologetically, is actually part of the wiring harness and is $1019. He asked around and tried to find a way but said it can't be aquired seperately from thrme harness. Said the mechanic he asked was familiar because he had just tried to help someone else with the same problem. Forgive me, but I didn't write down the part number. For such a "modular" truck with so many features geared towards easy modifications this was a bit of a shock to say the least....

I want things nice, but I'm certainly not going to replace an entire wiring harness.... and why replace it with the same fragile stud again? So I started exploratory surgery....

Positive terminal removed, bottom didn't provide many clues. There is a small hole that seems almost centered on the stud though...

I figured, "it's already broken, what could possibly go wrong?" So I drilled through the bottom and got my first peak of the back of the stud.

A dremel would be perfect here, the hole should be ideally about what the blue box shows for a nice neat fix (hint: size of a 10mm socket).

Here's the culprit, not much to show how it was mounted. It looks like the little nubs are maybe just pressed into the plastic to hold it??? No wonder it fails.

Long story short, replaced it with a fresh M6 bolt. I was going to fit a socket in or possibly fill the void with epoxy to lock it down, but ironically finger pressure was enough to keep it from spinning as I hauled on the nut on top. I may go back and clean it up later, but it's much more solid than stock and fixed with parts I had lying around.

Cheers!

You can now buy just the terminal from Ford. It is an easy install. Here is the part number:

You just disconnect any of the wires from the terminal, pull the 3 amp fuse and then disconnect the wire that comes into the bottom of the terminal box that connects to the fuse. There is a little clip that you just have to release from the top that holds the fuse wire in place. I just used a micro flathead screw driver and then gently pulled on the wire from below. Then you just do the reverse to install the new one. I have tried to highlight clip after I removed the wire:

Does this part include these two black, "nuts" that tighten the cable to the battery terminal?

No, it did not include the part you circled.
Ok that's a good thing as it's a separate part. Looks like it's just a terminal wedge nut and it's pretty universal?

Any final conclusion on which terminals are fused and which, if any are not?

Yeah sorry forgot to update this but yeah M5 & M6. I found what I needed at Ace Hardware. Got nylon insert flange nuts for both battery studs and one for a bolt I sent through that open hole on the negative terminal bracket. Here's a pic I took of that setup.
I didn't need the M6 (left) stud on the battery but just threw a nut on there too for someday when I might need one.

Appreciate you sharing. I am installing a winch and will land the positive on the M6 terminal.

I plan on grounding at the empty hole on the negative terminal. You currently have something hooked up there. What bolt & nut size did you use?

I’m also making up some heavier ground and power cables for the winch. I think I will do 90 degree bends to make life easier. Also, initially I was thinking a 3/8” hole for the ring terminals but I may be able to use 5/16” at the positive and negative battery connection points.

Are others also using 5/16” for your ring terminals?

I lost mine months ago and did some sketchy shit to keep my battery terminal from coming off while wheeling. I had not discovered the magical words "terminal wedge nut", thank you for your service, god bless, you are a saint!

One would think they are just accessory terminals and one could hook a winch or in my case an amplifier to either of them.
For reference, Ford does **exactly that** with the FP Winch kit and on Everglades models...

I'm reading all this ahead of installing a Battery Tender Plus 4 amp.
This illustration says torque the left 6mm nut to 13.5 N.m, but another Ford document* says "M6 Nut, torque to 10 +/- 1.5 Nm", which is quite different.

I believe that's the High Current Battery Junction Box. It's rated for 275A. The two open slots are for powering accessories such as pumps, winches, etc. They are not fused. The 3A fuse is for the battery monitoring sensor.

See if that paper tag has a Ford part number on it.
