Why is my Bronco in power save mode. It doesn't tell me what is wrong, and voltage is at a constant 14.7 - 14.9.
I have searched the forums and can't find anything on it. Screens black out when I get in.. Starts and runs fine since it started doing this yesterday.
I just don't wan't to get stranded for the 3rd time with this junk heap again. The other times were because the alternator when out and then when they installed the new one and the charging cable was never tightened down by Grapevine Ford. and left me stranded again. They have no answers either and just said bring it in.
They took 3 weeks to replace the alternator. They had it a week to replace the washer fluid reservoir that they never got done. After a week I just picked it up and still leaks like a fishing net. They were going to call me when it came in. It's been 3 months and nothing. they will never call back
Grapevine Ford is the worst service I have ever seen. They never return calls either.

Mine will do that when it sits for ~5 or more days. I'll drive it as normal and I never get any follow up notifications about it.

I drive mine at least 100 miles every day. It was fine yesterday, and I drove almost 200 miles and when I stopped at a store for about 15 minutes and got back in the warning came on.

If it happens once out of the blue - could be from sitting too long, or lots of small trips, and not much to worry about.

If it happens multiple times in a short period - your battery (or alternator) is likely on the way out, or you have some parasitic draw that's chewing up your capacity. Get it checked before it dies entirely.

Reading voltage in on the instrument cluster will tell you if your alternator is ~probably~ working, but a working alternator will mask any issues with a dying battery or parasitic draw.

Is that observed voltage while the truck is running, or after it’s been sitting for an hour completely turned off?

What accessories do you have hooked up to your battery? Lights? Winch? Etc.

Get this to the dealer fast. If yours isn't great, look for the next one. I'm fortunate to have great Ford dealership service at several locations near me. They can fix it.

You could try disconnecting the battery, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then reconnect. See if error still occurs- if so, off to the dealer.

I'm a technician at a dealer in Colorado. This is a common occurrence since Ford switched over to the AGM batteries. The 14.7-14.9V reading on the dash means the BCM sees your battery as low so its recharging it. Optimal reading is 12.8-13.2V. My Bronco does the same and its because I usually take short trips in it. I only have to drive a mile to work. I throw a trickle charger on the battery and reset the BMS sensor and its as good as new.

Another thing you can do at least what I have found to work on newer Fords, is to pull both the positive and negative terminals off the battery and touch the wires together to get rid of residual charge.

Update. Just for the record I replaced may alternator and battery about 18 months ago. I was going to replace it last weekend but didn't do it because I was investigating it more. After about 3 or 4 weeks of this, it all of the sudden started working perfect again.

Mine does it once in awhile. It typically happens more often when it's colder out.

I've always just ignored it. Sometimes it happens when I've been driving for a bit. Radio just shuts off for a little bit, then everything back to normal.

It happened the first week I had mine (had been sitting on lot for awhile). I've had it for two years now and nothing I can tell has come of it happening.

Mine does this too after sitting for a couple days. I also see voltages up to 15.3V after this while driving for a few miles then it eventually comes back to 14.7-14.9V. I’ve ignored it mostly but I’m wondering if 15.3V means trouble, I’ve never seen a vehicle voltage that high before.

Not necessarily. It can be normal for the Bronco charging system/AGM battery depending on certain criteria. As long as you aren’t having other issues, I wouldn’t worry about the charging system voltage.

Either way, it probably won’t hurt to have your battery tested if you’re getting the power save mode message.
