I picked up an ARB Summit bumper a couple of months ago. I've been delaying install for a myriad of reasons (winch indecision, work, vacation, honey do, the tragic mess that is my shop)

I finally have a few days with no obligations. So I figured I'd tackle it.

I'll post short updates as I go. So if you have installed one. Please give some tips!

Firstly, ARB packed this thing like it was going to be ran over by the delivery truck.

Box On a pallet, wrapped in plastic, cardboard paper, then foam wrap.

I got it unwrapped and up on some saw horses. With the help of my kids.

It is heavy, but worse it is awkward to lift. My old back didn't want to risk being sore.

I read the directions and realized I did not have a 13/32nd drill bit

5 stores and 60 miles later. I was able to locate one. (Partially my fault, since I waited until evening to get started)

I marked the headlight position on my shop door, and expertly marked the tire position.

I'm curious how much height I will lose with the added weight.
The summit is 100 lbs heavier than the mod bumper. But I have a 2 door. Which is lighter than the 4 door. Not sure if the suspension is the same.

I ended up going with the smittybuilt x20.

And holy crap, ARB sends an obnoxiously large sticker!

They are proud of their stuff, but my blind spot is already pretty bad, I don't want to add to it!

The proximity wiring harness proved a slight pita to unhook from the truck. Partially due to my giant paws.

I prevailed though. I did realize the plastic stud/push pins are pretty much single use. Two broke and they marred up pretty bad with removal. Not sure if it was dirt making them difficult to remove.

Bumper is skinned of the parking sensors. Pretty straight forward. Just a tad tedious.

It took a bit longer because I put the bumper back together while I still knew where the bolts were and how it went back together.

Also, on the harness. Are these the fog light plugs? My mod bumper didn't have fogs. Nor do I have a switch on the headlight.

And fyi, my ADHD is at full throttle.

This is a comparison between Griots 3n1 and cerakote ceramic coat.

Paint is 40 years old. First Pic is the raw paint.

Second is riots

Third is cerakote.

I'm thinking the directions are not correct for my model.

The directions say to remove the intercooler shutter wiring harness to extend it for the camera.

My camera harness is not included with that harness.

Blinkers are wired and lights have power.

Fwiw, I used a pick to put as much pressure as needed to back out the screws in the push pins for the wheel liner. There is soo much dirt in there.

Now onto the intercooler...

Got the brackets on! Took 2 hours. Once I realized I should have not removed the bolts. It was 30 minutes.

Now I am trying to figure out the mess of bolts they sent. It was literally a bag of loose nuts and bolts

Geez, I'm just now having my first cup of coffee and after reading this I'm already tired! Hats off to you, man, and thanks for making the extra effort to doc and share!

I went into the house last night to grab another beer. Then I saw is was 4 a.m. !

I called it a night.

My level of frustration is pretty high. The lack of labeling on the individual parts, and the 6 lb bag of loose nuts and bolts that are all similar in size.

I'm starting to figure out why there is not an install video. I was using all the potty words last night!

Back at it.

I am trying to figure out which washer to use to tie together the intercooler bracket to the chassis mount brackets.

There are 3 different m10 washers listed. All with slightly different outer diameters
