What is the magic grease? Wish aftermarket parts could be 20% as reliable and long lasting as OEM parts.

We are still running HOSS 2.0 on our 2dr on skinny 37s. Planning to do the HOSS 3.0 but probably keep it stock with stock tie rods. Aftermarket needs to get their crap together...

The OEM grease is RheoGel 429. There is a different grease for the ball nut specifically, but I lathered up the whole rack in as much RheoGel 429 as I could pack. It's hard to find online, but there are other greases with similar specifications, like what SierraBronco shared. Honestly most anything is better than nothing!

I forget why we ended looking elsewhere. I think maybe because it was only available in Diddy-babyoil quantities? Or maybe not available to the public. Something like that. This one was the most similar.

All this talk about "ball nut" and "rack" lube does sound like court reporting on the trial... 🤐

I might have the same issue. I thought it might be loose steering rack mounting bolts, but I tightened those down and still have it. This was a pain in the ass as I had to remove my hidden winch to get to them.

I was also thinking skid plates that have some dirt between them rubbing together, but I haven’t gotten around to check that.

The only time I notice it is when I back out of my parking spot and turn the wheel to the left. It’s not as deep of a clunk sound as in the video, it’s more of a “clink” sound. As I straighten out it clinks some more, but as I get up to speed the sound goes away and I don’t really notice it on the street. Could this be the same thing?

You should check out Vasher Designs. Mike makes a Billet Rack as well, and parts. I have his Billet Passenger side Housing on my 2.0 rack with Bronc bushing on Drivers side. Im on 37s and have had pretty good luck with mine, just a level on the front for lift. I also noticed he has his own Driver side polymer bushing listed as well now.( polymer for lack of a better term)

Love Sand Hollow, great pic.

I don't see his bushings listed. Do you have a link?

Possibly. My understanding is the clunk isn't a failure type issue. More of a steering feel and annoying thing. It seems that there must be some variance in the 74W builds...

The best way to test is with someone sawing the wheel while touching the steering rack or tie rods. You can feel it clunk.

Ours may be setup more poorly than most. It is extremely clunky and noticeable driving too.

You might need to email him. Doing a lot of updates on the website. BE PATIENT! Lol. It’s just him and his wife. Seem like good people

He said (we’re talking suspension so I asked him real quick since I had him on the line) he’ll make them by request but isn’t advertising them on the website any more. So if it’s something you’re serious about shoot him an email

I’m so glad I didn’t fall to the hype. Still rocking my Hoss 2.0 in my Badlands.
I saw George from Trail Militia beats the hell out of his Bronco and didn’t have problems either with Hoss 2.0 rack.
We never had a problem with ours either. But, when planning out the mods, I was trying to strengthen appropriately for what we were doing. Thought the steering rack would fall in that category of things that need beefed up. Can’t do anything about it now beyond being honest in the experience to prevent others from making the same mistake.

More mistakes to follow, have no fear.
