I took delivery of my 2026 Badlands on May 29. I noticed immediately that the headlights never turned off and brought it into the dealer on June 3. They ordered and replaced the ambient light sensor. It did not resolve the issue. They are now doing a full harness rewire that requires dash removed, seats, trim, etc. I will not get it back until June 11 at least.
I have contacted Ford and they have opened a case. It is truly disappointing for a vehicle that costs this much to have this issue - I have 200 miles on it.
So, my question….what should I ask of Ford to make this right?

Make them (1) fix it (2) warrant the fix for 10 years and (3) provide you with an equivalent rental while you wait.

If it is not resolved this time, you are likely getting close to lemon law. Ford has only so many chances to try to fix an issue before they must buy back the vehicle (including all taxes, registrations fees, and other government fees).

In my state, if they unsuccessfully attempt to fix the *same* issue three times (two if it's a safety related defect) or require more than 24 *business* days of repair time, the lemon law is triggered.

Check your state, and if you get close to it you should consult a lawyer. It sucks, but Ford owes you a vehicle that works properly and/or a full refund if they are unable to provide that.

That said: give them a full faith opportunity to fix it before you go nuclear, hah.

Ask them to honor the warranty and fix the vehicle. Not sure what else you're thinking of??

Without trying to be a wise-ass,

You actually think or hope you’ll get some type of compensation? Every manufacturer has issues / problems.

Ambient light sensor and now a harness. Broke out the parts cannon by the sounds of it.

I like the $2M delivered by that pretty lady option. That’s what I’d go with, but I’d settle for a loaner, a free/discounted extended warranty, and 6 cases of Peach White Claw.

I would have changed out the switch first in light of the early ones that had bad switches causing this. Harness replacement is major surgery.

This. Since you are expecting the ambient sensor to control your lights, then the DRL feature will be on by default. If the switch was wired up wrong, or has an internal short / fault in it, that could easily cause this problem. If you are saying that the wrong lights are turning on, that could be due to a wiring mistake at the headlight end. The likelihood that the wire(s) powering your headlights is shorting to the wire(s) powering your DRLs - and nothing else is wrong - is very, very low.
