Emissions, mpg, and warranty are why. Factory tunes balance lots of things. Aftermarket tunes DGAF about the engine longevity, emissions and mpg.

That said, I have no doubt Ford and others see the opportunity to squeeze more money out of customers and plan for that more than in the past, too.
VW Auto Group has done this for a long time.

That’s because it really is.
The procal gives you roughly an extra ~30hp and torque (which aren’t even numbers to the rear wheels)
Whereas a custom tune can get you ~85rwhp and 110rwtq. It’s a pretty massive difference
why the big difference? lack of innovation? why doesn't Ford push it harder? fear of liability?

If anyone is still debating this, this is the advice I gave someone on Reddit yesterday:

Daily Driver = No, skip it. Worse fuel economy.
Toy / Fun Vehicle = Do it, do it now.

The improvements it makes to the transmission and torque are FANTASTIC. Though, my experience is with the 2.7L if that matters.
