2.7 tuner vs procal

Question: I'm looking at purchasing a tuner for the 2.7 from Ford Performance since they have 20% off until the end of the month. Reading through the description M-12655-F ProCal 4 is listed as a part that may be needed???
Will the tuner work without the M-12655-F part? What is the M-12655-F?

M-12655-F is the procal only. Doesn’t include a tune, and you cannot buy one separately.
That’s not what you need.
You have to buy the specific calibration for your vehicle, which includes the procal

I highly recommend the ProCal w/tune - I purchased from LethalPerformance. The best $600 I've spent on my '23 Wildrak. Less throttle lag, holds gears longer and shifts fast. Plus auto stop start memory (stays wherever you set it) and full factory warranty. It turns the fun factor of the Bronco up to 11. It's really the way it should have been tuned from the factory. If I have to replace the Bronco tomorrow it will be my first upgrade, no question.

Perhaps an ignorant question, but how does a tune like this work in the different drive modes? I also have a 23 Wildtrak - so would this tune bump up normal mode, and sport? Does it affect eco mode?

You still have all the modes like ECO, but with additional HP/TQ. Shift points are better mapped so rarely hunting for gears. The biggest difference is it makes Normal mode a lot more responsive for daily driving and Sport mode has more power available.

In ECO mode I saw no difference in MPG before/after. In Normal mode you will see a slight decrease in fuel economy because you will be hot-dogging it with a smile on your face. Interstate driving I saw no difference in fuel economy. This is on the 2.7L w/SAS.

I agree with Medisn - considering you can keep your warranty the ProCal tune to me is a no-brainer. I also got from Lethal (with a sale it was around $550 I believe). As others have said the improvements in the shifting alone are worth it. The throttle response and power increase was noticeable to me.

Does the Procal tuner require a PC for install or can a MAC be used—does it require a windows based PC?

I am not sure, sorry. I had a shop install because Ford says a dealership or ASE certified tech must install to keep the warranty. Not sure if it's true but I wasn't taking a chance.

it makes all the modes better. and it will keep auto start turned off when you push the button.

I wish the A-S-S would stay off but it does not on my '24. Apparently it does on earlier years.

Nope, wish it did. Also tried to disable it with Forscan and no luck. Others have had the same experience on here apparently.
