Wanted to give everyone a heads-up. Lots of changes as of late, but long story short I traded-in my Bronco :(

The news is bittersweet, but I needed something quieter and more comfortable. I test drove a few vehicles, including the Bronco Raptor but didn't feel it was that big of an improvement in those two areas.

I'm a bit pissed that I didn't get a chance to upgrade the Turbos on my Bronco, but it is what it is. I'll have to live vicariously through @Ducati1098.

I still plan to be present on this site and will continue to make Bronco and Ranger content on my Youtube Channel.

That said, my YouTube channel will now include F150 Raptor content...Yup, I bought a used 2023 F150 Raptor 801A. I love it thus far as it checks a lot of the boxes for me. I plan to do quite a lot of mods and have some fun with her.

I've seen multiple posts here about fuel blending. Allow me to take you on a "medium" dive on this topic to support your tuning adventures safely!

For those interested in precisely mixing to any octane level (or any % ethanol aka %EtOH) check out my completely novel blending app based on peer reviewed and published data from some of the "big boys" (Ford Motor Company, GE Energy and BP Products North America).

When concerned about fuel, octane is more important than ethanol. Unfortunately, determining % ethanol in a blend is fairly easy (just inverting a 2x2 matrix equation...), whereas determining octane is much more difficult. So almost all of the plethora of apps and calculators you can find out there generally do the ethanol calculations correctly (albeit sometimes with some odd limitations).

What your engine really "cares" about though and "feels" (i.e. dangerous knock/pre-ignition) is the octane. Again determining octane is a SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult calculation, it is non-linear, involves a family of parabolic curve fits, the above mentioned matrix equation as well as solving for the mix iteratively so that in tank and added fuels are treated equally. My "Octane and Ethanol Calculator" uses peer reviewed scientific papers that actually measured the octane of many varying ethanol blends as a basis.

I then developed a unique algorithm to dial in ANY octane OR any % ethanol from ANY commonly available fuels and ethanol blends. Such an algorithm wasn't the purpose of the papers and it wasn't even mentioned, so this was the "heavy lift". The app also supports down blending to a lower octane (or lower %EtOH)!

Although they are uncommon, I've found nothing but incorrect results, poor understanding and misleading calculators and tables when folks offer an ability to calculate octane from blends. It was in part the observation of these consistent mistakes that led me down this development path.

No longer! Tuners can now specify a precise octane for any tune and this will let customers get it right with any fuels they have access to.

Personally, I just recently added a Fuel-It inline ethanol sensor in my rig (posted that install here recently) at least as some 1st order sanity checking (as again measuring octane is quite difficult and expensive) and my app is consistently within 1% compared to the sensor.

Here is a link to my Android App info page, with a Play Store link there as well. It is a paid (subscription) app.

Tune on, tuners!!

Apologies if too far OT, I did consider that carefully before posting.

And, of course, @MWILD , congrats on the new rig!

Awesome, work! I'll definitely check this out. Any chance for an iOS version?

I'd sure like to. A couple of folks here have specifically requested it. However, frankly, demand is quite a bit softer than expected. I've got to get my coder paid off before expanding.

Thanks for all of the information you generated on the Bronco. Your the reason my bronco is so quick and also the reason my checkbook is empty, LOL.
Have fun with the Raptor.

Nice new truck ... how did the transmission on the Bronco hold up with all of your mods? If you mentioned that already I apologize. I did not read all 30 pages ... thank you!

Transmission was solid and didn't exhibit any issues. I did a drain and refill + filter once when I had it. That said, the drivetrain was making quite a bit of noise before I traded it in. I took it to my local ford dealer since it was making a gear whining noise. They replaced the front differential, but it didn't fix the noise. Didn't affect anything, but was noisy at around 40 MPH. Given that I launched the Bronco well over a 150+ times I think it did pretty well.

I now have a new used 2021 Bronco…this time a bare bone base model, 2DR and MT. I may start a thread on the 2.3L section, but I don’t plan on making this a 12 second Bronco :) I do plan to make it faster which will make banging the gears all the more fun. Love this 2 DR & MT combo. Can't wait for HP tuners to give the 2.3 some love...soon;)

I just bought a Pedal Commander for my 23 Big Bend Sas based on your recommendation. Hopefully I love it as much as you did!
