Bronco6G friends,

Some of you may have seen me post 0-60 & 1/8 mile times throughout this forum, but figured I would start my own thread. Wanted to have a place to post my ongoing results as I add more performance mods to my Bronco. Why do this? I mean, it's an off-road vehicle, not a drag car; right? Well...I do it because It's fun and I enjoy seeing what I can eke out of this platform and the little 2.7L engine. I’m all about making a quick off-roader :)

My Bronco is a 2022 Big Bend Sasquatch 4DR Soft Top with the mid package. It has the modular front bumper, added factory skids plates, NFab rock sliders, and ACFab shock skids. In a nutshell, I have no plans to make my Bronco lightweight as I do wheel the vehicle and put the added protection to use.

Here are my current performance modifications:

  • Ford Performance ProCal Tune
  • Injen Evolution Cold Air Intake System - EVO9301
  • Turbosmart Kompact EM VR19 Dual port BOV
  • BMS Pedal Tuner
  • 93 Octane and E30 when stated

Future Performance mods wishlist:

  • Injen cold air intake (Coming soon) Installed 1/1/24 (Upgraded from S&B Air filter)
  • Intercooler (CVF or similar) CVF on the way
  • Turbosmart BOV (Plumb back) Installed 1/5/24
  • Exhaust (Leaning towards MBRP 3" catback)
  • Charge pipes (Injen or waiting for CVF)
  • RaceChip S model (Install on top of ProCal) On the way
  • Short term Tune (Livernois or International Dyno Authority)
  • Long term Tune (ZFG or similar)

With just the S&B air filter and using 88(E15) or 93 octane I would consistently hit 0-60 in the 6.5-6.7 sec range. When I added 6 gallons of E85 for a E30-ish mix, I would drop down to 6.3s and 1/8 mile in 9.46s (would be closer to 9.39-9.40, but let off too early)

Today I installed my Ford ProCal device and managed to drop my 0-60 to 5.69s. This was with 93 octane. I also did the 1/8th in 8.99s and 60 ft in 1.95s (Faster than my old 93 Mustang 5.0 w/FBO 😁)

The Bronco now wheel hops off the line in 4A...wasn't expecting that.

All runs done in Sport mode + 4A + ATC off + 2nd gear launch.

[UPDATE 1/7/24] Installed Injen CAI and Turbosmart BOV and ran again.

Did my 0-60 and 1/8 mile with the addition of Injen CAI and Turbosmart BOV. No real improvement flat out, but in day to day driving I noticed a solid improvement in midrange power. I ran it a few times and the were all pretty similar. Think i’m gonna need more boost plus an intercooler for it to make a substantial difference. I'll disconnect the negative battery cable for an hour to see if that helps.

Still have Palm Beach Dyno in my sights :)

They were able to achieve 0-60 in 5.34s. This was in a 2021 WT with the top, spare and doors removed + JB4 @ Map 4 with E30 + Exhaust

Video from PBD showing how they achieved their 5.3s run.
If you're still in the market for an exhaust upgrade, I highly recommend the Borla Cat Back exhaust. It turns down nicely and won't get knocked off the first time you crawl off a rock ledge!

Wanted to post this since it took me a little bit to figure out. If you want to monitor PID IAT and IAT2 with the Ford ProCal 4, then you need to look at ACT and ACT2. They are that same thing, just a PID that Ford uses. This will come in handy when I install the CVF Intercooler this weekend.

IAT/ACT = Air temps before Intercooler
IAT2/ACT2 = Air temps after the Intercooler

Big thanks to @RubyRedGT for helping to install the CVF intercooler today. We took a lot of video, so I plan to make a detailed Install video to post on my YouTube Channel. I’ll have some before and after when it comes to ACTs.

I'm SCB on this list. I need to practice launching the truck. I feel like there are a few tenths I'm leaving on the table.

Awesome! I see you have a Whipple tune & Intercooler.

Are you launching in 2nd gear and 4H or 4A?

I only made two attempts. First one was 2h and floor it.
The one you posted was 4H, 1st gear, locked rear differential, power break to about 2,000 rpm and let ā€˜er rip.

I would try a 2nd gear launch to see if that helps your time. Start out in manual mode, then press the + button on the shifter to move it into 2nd gear. Power brake up to 2.5K RPM in 4H and sport mode, then launch it and then immediately throw it into drive so it shifts automatically. That should help your time as it eliminates the 1-2 shift, which isn’t needed when you have 4:70 gears. Your Bronco should currently have more power than mine, so it can probably best my time.

Also, you shouldn’t need to lock the rear diff, but I haven’t tried it.

Stock 0-60 in just over 6 seconds for a 5500lbs V-6 powered off road vehicle is nuts.

Sadly some of us remember when 6 seconds was supercar speeds...

Pretty sure Pulsar is going to spank the low end Racechips option.
I think you’re right. I want to replace my front and rear differential fluids before I beat her up some more šŸ˜„. After that, I plan to do some comparisons. Stock, RaceChip, ProCal, and Pulsar XT. Then stack the ProCal and Pulsar.

Can't do the rear spoiler but once I get my hardtop, it's time for vortex generators!!!

(in all seriousness, I'm interested to hear how the various tunes "stack up" against each other, especially Pulsar).
