When I did my Injen install, I did drill a small hole in it, the same spot the Ford hole was in. I then used a small piece of screen and glued it underneath. Drain hole. As it been noted, I do not get water in the system, but I figured if Ford did it on the OEM, it would not hurt to do it on the Injen.

thinking that is what is going to be done in each indentation since the have a small amount in each one thanks for your input also i didn't think to look at the oe one when I installed it and didn't really want to drill in the new product seems like injen should put small holes in these spots

Just set the ProCal up so I can monitor IATs before the Intercooler goes on. Also put the RaceChip back on and set it 3 out of 5. Man, it feels good. Very smooth power delivery and more of it. Can’t wait to try out setting 5 when the plugs and IC are installed.

Today I’ve been driving around with the RaceChip set to level 3 and the Bronco feels great. I decided to give this setup a run since I had a nice piece of road away from civilization.

This time I launched the Bronco in 4H instead of 4A. The launch was more violent and I experienced more wheel spin, though it still pulled hard off the line. Think I’m gonna drop the air pressure a bit and not launch so hard next go around to see if it improves my times… Anyway. The RaceChip was exactly what I needed. I don’t know how much boost it adds, since I can’t see the actual boost pressure w/piggyback tune…

Regardless, even on this low setting I ran the times below:

60ft = 1.90s
0-60 = 5.32s
1/8 mile = 8.74s @ 77.32 MPH
1/4 mile = 13.84s @ 95.60 MPH

This was on a fresh tank of 93. Technically, these times are faster vs. Palm beach Dyno’s run, but there was an issue with the 0-60 run being unverified within the app. Oddly enough, the 1/8 and 1/4 mile saw no issues and were verified. Doesn’t matter, I still have more to come so I’ll do it again. Still, these are BRaptor beating acceleration numbers.

As it stands, I have the #1 spot for 1/8 and 1/4 mile in the Dragy app. I’m sure that won’t last for long, since I’ve seen a BRaptor with a Pulsar XT tuner run a 13.6s 1/4 mile using a Dragy.

Still, this is beating out the 400 WHP IDA tuned Big Bend with stock tires in the 1/4 mile. I’m going to guess and say they don’t know how to launch their Bronco, so I have no doubt they would be much faster with a better launch.

Still have more in the tank with the parts left to come. Still need to install the NGK plugs, CVF Intercooler, set RaceChip to level 5 (If it works) and try E30 again. Tempted to order an MBRP exhaust as well. Also plan to take this setup to the dyno and 1/4 drag strip in Spring. Maybe I can find a Wrangler 4XE to pick on 😁

Would be interesting to see what numbers you get with the roof/doors off and only a few gallons in the tank. Would be a couple hundred pounds lighter.

I’ll consider doing it for fun when it warms up a bit 😜

Mad Hatter Garage has a 2DR 2.3L Big Bend running under 5s 0-60. It has a Roush Intake, JB4, and running E30. This little Bronco is a rocket 🚀

Also, there’s a video showing him doing 4.82s 0-60 and 13.4s in the 1/4 mile. The results are not officially uploaded, so I’m sure 100% sure they’re valid. Still, it’s impressive as hell.

The little wheels play big part
Yeah, turning my Bronco into a rice rocket isn’t a thing but would sure be easy with the few mods and 2 doors that tiny thing has. I’ve had plenty of truck builds that were screaming fast but well-armored and powered for off road, that’s really the direction I’m into going and watching.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I didn't order a sasquatch. When the factory tires are done I might order some lighter 17" wheels. I want the offset to move the wheels and tires out a little for a fuller wheel well look. I might go to 285/70 tires since they come in P rating an only add a few pounds per tire an that can be saved with lighter wheels.

Guess the question is will going from 32" to 33" tires hurt if the weight is the same but keeping the 3.73 gearing.

Hmmm…The guys at ZFG say to not use those plugs, but I’m taking their word for it. Might not be as big of a deal since yours are gapped to 0.26 - Anyway, these guys tune the fastest Explorer STs on the planet. A few do 10s in the 1/4 mile.

From ZFG:

Spark plugs.
There is a load of misinformation floating around about spark plugs. 6510s (LTR7IX-11) are not the spark plug to use in your EcoBoost. I get it, other tuners recommend them, but they are not right for the application. Do they work? Yes, they do, but this is what happens. Plugs will go in gapped at .031. After a few thousand miles you will start getting some spark blow out. Then you will pull the plugs and find out the gap opened up to .038 or some other large number! This will happen every time, the cylinder pressure and firing temperature of the Ecoboost is just way to hot and will cause the strap to open up towards its original position! Some people are doing plugs after 5-10k miles because they are "bad". That's not the issue. The plug isn't bad at all the gap is just wrong. 6510s come out of the box gapped at .044 even and even NGK tells you not to re-gap them more than .010 whereas most Ecoboost applications need to be gapped at .028 max.
The following options are what we at ZFG Racing recommend in order the order that we prefer.
NGK 95605
NGK 95822
Bosch 96315

Not relevant to the discussion... but I was super relieved when I looked up the plugs I ordered from SPD performance and they appear to be NGK 95605!

Nice! Mine were just delivered. Gapped to .028.

Looking forward to seeing how they do with the extra boost.

Agreed. From my own testing I’m not really seeing any improvement in my 0-60 runs with the Injen CAI installed. Subjectively, I do feel a difference in the mid-range power when just driving around town, but can’t really measure that.

That being said, there are a few videos showing the K&N CAI adds around 15-16 HP on the dyno, so I imagine the Injen would be similar, perhaps slightly better.
Keep in mind dyno numbers can be skewed to however an operator wants, generally the only dyno numbers I remotely trust is when they’re from say like one of us meaning nobody associated with the test product what so ever
