That’s really cool. I’m between 185-195 around town and 200ish at 75mph+ on the highway. If I romp on it locally, it’ll spike upwards of 215+/-. Are you running a 3rd party or modified oil cooler? The oil temp on this vehicle is one of my biggest concerns - it’s not managed well. The oil cooler should be more robust to accommodate the turbos.
No, but it’s usually 50-ish degrees when I test. I baby it and then make two back to back runs. In the summer time my temps are in the 215-220 range when in sport mode.

Drove the Bronco around 50 miles after leaving the negative cable off for 2 hrs. Had E30 in the tank and did back to back 0-60 runs. My times are slightly worse…high 5’s. Wasn’t expecting that, though I noticed it felt weaker in 3rd gear. I remember when I had my JB4 installed I also had a BOV spacer, which I think was causing issues.

I’m gonna swap over to the stock BOV and see if there’s any change. Gonna reset again and go from there. CVF intercooler will be here tomorrow.

The oil temp thing is real but not necessarily bad from what I’m told. On highway at 80 mph plus I’m 225-230 degrees consistently. On tough long muddy uphill grinds that go on and on October in CO I saw 245 degrees and decided to stop and let it rest. Then researched anftermarket oil coolers later (found none that work for this engine). Also talked to some race and crawler guys who see 260 regularly and only sweat it at 280 or so. So I don’t know, I’ll see what happens this summer in TX, CO and Moab with high ambients.

Since I’m going to be pushing more boost with the RaceChip I went ahead and ordered some new plugs. One step colder than stock and gapped to .028. Adam from ZFG tuning recommended this plug and gap for most V6 Ecoboost motors, so gonna give them a try.

I went with these colder plugs for the same reason. Gapped at .026

Just delivered. Going to wait until I figure out my current issue before I Install it. Don’t need another variable.

I also want to install the new plugs and CVF intercooler before hooking this up. Wanna give it as much breathing room as I can.

Nice! Do you the model of NGK plugs they use? Price looks good.
Sorry, I don’t remember and it’s not on the invoice. I want to carry a few extras anyway so I’ll ask them.

Hmmm…The guys at ZFG say to not use those plugs, but I’m taking their word for it. Might not be as big of a deal since yours are gapped to 0.26 - Anyway, these guys tune the fastest Explorer STs on the planet. A few do 10s in the 1/4 mile.

From ZFG:

Spark plugs.
There is a load of misinformation floating around about spark plugs. 6510s (LTR7IX-11) are not the spark plug to use in your EcoBoost. I get it, other tuners recommend them, but they are not right for the application. Do they work? Yes, they do, but this is what happens. Plugs will go in gapped at .031. After a few thousand miles you will start getting some spark blow out. Then you will pull the plugs and find out the gap opened up to .038 or some other large number! This will happen every time, the cylinder pressure and firing temperature of the Ecoboost is just way to hot and will cause the strap to open up towards its original position! Some people are doing plugs after 5-10k miles because they are "bad". That's not the issue. The plug isn't bad at all the gap is just wrong. 6510s come out of the box gapped at .044 even and even NGK tells you not to re-gap them more than .010 whereas most Ecoboost applications need to be gapped at .028 max.
The following options are what we at ZFG Racing recommend in order the order that we prefer.
NGK 95605
NGK 95822
Bosch 96315

Interesting, I've never heard this before. I'm pretty sure they're one of the most common used plugs in tuned ecoboosts. They've been in mine for a while now with zero issues 🤷‍♂️ Maybe I'll have to look into it more.

I can't remember how many miles I have on mine, but I'd say it's over 10k. Maybe i'll pull them out and check the gap.

Okay, so swapped out the TS BOV with the stock one. Did some additional 0-60 runs and no difference. Times still the same, so it's not the BOV. Could just be the Injen CAI doesn't add much HP?? I was expecting my times to improve at least a little bit... especially with E30 in the tank. Kinda stumped at the moment. Going to do some data logging with Forscan.

Could be that the tune did not adjust for the E30 in the tank? I need to get a draggy to try to get some numbers in. I would like to see what my mods are actually doing. Still trying to get a dyno session in.

It's possible, but this would be the first time I'm not seeing a performance benefit using E30. I would also think just adding the Injen CAI would give more than it has. When I'm halfway into the throttle she feels quick, but full throttle doesn't feel like it should. Wonder if I'm running into an issues somewhere else. I'm going to review MAP and IAT logs to see what I can find.

Also, because I have no patience, I did install the Racechip (Setting 3 out of 5) and It makes a difference. Nothing huge, but it's there. Didn't do any 0-60 runs and I took it back off, as I don't want to push my luck. I want the new plugs and IC installed before I go all out. The IC just got here yesterday, but still waiting on the plugs to ship.
