Maybe, but I remember seeing a list of everything that this conglomerate owned...and that many aftermarket companies going out at once are going to leave a MASSIVE void in the market that won't be easy to fill. It's going to negatively impact everyone else for a bit.
Yeah I don't disagree. Like I said it's only the Fram part that I wouldn't lose any sleep over. The rest is pretty tragic.

I recently bought 3 Motorcraft oil filters for my Bronco online through Walmart. Should i be concerned they are confederate? They look look exactly like the one i bought for my last oil changed that I got from Auto Zone.
Few years ago I ordered seven Motorcraft oil filters from Walmart because I got tired of going to Walmart and they would not have the Motorcraft filter I needed in stock. A few days later there was a rather large box at my front door. I thought “ why such a large box for seven filters?”. I opened the box and discovered Walmart sent me “ seven cases” of the Motorcraft filter I ordered. I contacted Walmart to inform them of the error. They told me “ there isn’t a way in our ordering system to rectify the mistake so just keep them” . For the cost of seven filters I received seven cases. I can change the filter once a month and still have enough filters to last for my heirs to change the oil in my vehicle.

Confederate oil filters, I did not know the South was producing those.

I did know about the scandal and a month ago my Walmart had the filter isle stripped of all the affected brands. I’ve seen no shortage of filters in these parts but maybe that’s because us confederate states are making our own now.. haha

FYI since this is oil related, Mobile One has a good oil rebate going right now. FRAM was a great oil filter with its built in collapsable design.

I believe the Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator/Mann-Hummel, so you should be fine for legitimacy.

That said, they suffer from poor efficiency and the soft black glue of death....

I was recently in Walmart to buy some oil and decided to get a AC filter for my son's Tahoe. All of the AC filters that were the size I needed had been opened and replaced with Fram filters....oh and the Frams were cheaper...bunch of hoodlum shoppers....

Depends on whether they were manufactured north or south of the Mason-Dixon Line. đź’€

A factory just across the road from us was purchased by First Brands a few years ago after being privately owned for decades, just shut down. I think they did extrusions and other rubber products like o-rings for filters. 100+ jobs just gone overnight and they hung us with a couple thousand in repairs not paid for. Hope the two brothers that were involved get the chair. Well, not really like that but I hope they and every family member they enriched along the way, have every penny clawed back the courts can get their hands on.

Damn shame the previous owners of Jasper Rubber didn't keep it local. Think they ESOP'd then shortly after, sold to First.

I made a crappy discovery yesterday. I'm getting ready to do an oil change and walk into my go to place for auto parts and get to the filter shelf and the shelf is nearly completely empty. I went to the counter to find out what that was all about and was told that there was some kind of disruption but the guy didn't know what. I started going from place to place and all the local stores were nearly out of filters. Thankfully, the dealership had lots but if you like to use a specific brand you might want to find some and stock up if you can. A company called First Brands went down in a huge mess. This happened late last year and the shortages started making themselves known after February 2026. Anyway, I thought people should know. The article below is quite the read and quite the scandal.

I'm disappointed because the Fram Synthetic Endurance FE11955 is one of the best filters for the money you can buy for the 2.7L ecoboost.

Even they have slipped in the consensus over at BITOG.

With all the consolidating and resulting cost cutting, every 6 to 12months it seems a different company is producing "the best" filters.

Wix is still "OK" , but some of the "better" filters .... CURRENTLY .... are the top of the line house brands at the auto parts box stores ..... Oreillys, CarQuest, etc. Filters made by PGI.

I've switched from WIX XP to Oreillys "Micro-guard Select".... for now.
(FYI... Microguard is no longer made by WIX)

Apparently WIX , now owned by Hummel/Mann, has gone through some changes since the change in ownership which have knocked them from the top spot.

Another thing to consider .... my information is about 12 months old ... so who knows now. Lol
