Yes. Very easy to do. Loosen from bolts and remove rear bolts and it slides out. I recommend that you remove all 4 bolts at least once and add some anti-seize to them. I found they got tougher to loose/remove as time went by.

When I've had it done (soft hands, I know) they always pulled the plate to do it. I think there is a pass-through hole to get at the drain but that sounds like a great way to get a nice oil puddle on top of the plate.

Also be prepared with a flathead screwdriver or something to pry down the front skid plate when putting it back on, it slides between the front skid plate and the cross member.

yes it must be removed. There are four bolts. I’ve done it before. Also Oil change places can do it for you as well.

Dumb question do I need to remove the skid plate to change the oil on my 2024 wild?
FYI, your location is spelled wrong. Having family from there, I believe it's Vuhginia. 😁

Thanks all. Yup, it took me a while to figure out which skidplate but then easy. I hate the plug on the oil pan. No real control of flow. Probably lost a quart of it to the driveway when draining.

Hold it in place for a minute while it trickles down. Agonizing minute but it's possible to do a change without an errant drop.

I always pull it off and clean it. It collects dirt and moisture so I like to get rid of that to avoid rust. I also don't want it to catch any oil that will then drip and make me wonder if my engine is leaking!

Not that it would necessarily negate the need to pull the skid plate, but has anyone fitted a Fumoto valve to their Bronco to facilitate easier oil changes? I've put them on all of my vehicles, you replace the drain plug with the Fumoto valve, then when you want to do an oil change, you just flip the valve 90 degrees and it drains. Once done draining, you flip it shut. I've run 250k+ miles with them with zero issues - no leaks, and there is a lockout to prevent it from being inadvertently opened.

I only put drain valves on oil pans/drains that are a PITA, like the stupid plastic plug Ford is using on EBs. Luckily, my '24 2.3l has a simple, tried and true metal plug.

Ronin is best compared to other Brands. A few threads with pics in this forum.

I find is prudent to remove the pan takes no time and I can take a look around. I also find the Ford plug to be fine it's just technique in fact I just got the updated Ford plug. Terrified of an aftermarket plug failing and dropping oil out ...no warranty in this case...plus the prices are ridiculous.
