As usual, GM is a couple years late to the 'retro' party. (think 2005 Mustang, then Camaro and Challenger following Ford's intro).
Some competition could be a good thing....The V8 option should give Ford some incentive to also offer a V8.
I do wish GM would go back a generation to the 67-72 design, those had more style than the bland squarebodies.

Still three years away, anything can happen but definitely going after the Bronco. I hope it offers a fixed roof option I would be interested. I like my Bronco but not the compromises that come from having a removable roof and frameless windows.

Ford needs to get serious about its QC. The amount of recalls and service bulletins is absolutely ridiculous. The whole frameless windows is not a new concept and has been done for ever and still is being used by other manufacturers. Problem is Ford half-assed a lot of things on the Bronco. New better seals, new gasket for the frameless windows, V8, and sound acoustic glass would do wonders for the Bronco.

Will definitely see where life is at when the Jimmy hits the market. But if Ford makes the necessary quality improvements to the Bronco they still have a winner.

Perhaps you should go buy a 4Runner then.

They missed the boat with the H3. It easily could have been the Bronco competition with added roll protection and removable roof and doors.
Competition is good. Dad had a ‘71 Blazer. Rockers rusted out pretty quick and it was always breaking shock mounts just running his rural mail route gravel roads. Was cool with the top that came off all the way to the windshield though. I will never buy a GM product though. They couldn’t run a commercial without bashing Ford and allegedly bribed JD Power for ratings. And took the Gov bailout.

Today’s Bronco should have NEVER been considered to be put into production without the V8 option. I believe without a doubt when the designers at Ford were tasked with creating the Bronco every one of them believed it would incorporate a V8.

Issue is they are late to the party! Fuel prices, interest rates and inflation make this a bad time to roll out a new gas guzzler. Bronco hit the market at the perfect time and these other companies have missed the timing.

Weird ... if GM wanted to compete directly against the current Bronco, having a body-on-frame version based on the mid-sized Colorodo or Canyon would seem like a better place to start. The full-size pick-up version of the Bronco was gen 2 thru 5.
