It will be 3 years in August. Just turned over 15k.... I would have LOTS of scratches if I did not have PPF... But to answer the question, No leaks, No cracks, Everything is great... and yes I have the gunners hatch... and same there. I have had it out a few times and no issues....

The problem with the painted roof is that it’s painted. This is supposed to be an off road vehicle but in reality it’s just another grocery-getter for most people.

All signs indicate the Lincoln Bronco will do well.

That doesn't make sense. It's as if you are implying that if the top is painted then it isn't intended to go off road. If the paint was the barrier to going or not going off road, then Ford shouldn't offer any paint. Broncos should only come in primer to that fallacy.

It doesn’t have to make sense to you. It is what it is. A painted roof is objectively, irrefutably less utilitarian and instead pretty. That’s the obvious compromise here. But, of course, facts don’t matter to people clinging to an idea.

This argument is about definitions.....

You could say the exact same thing about body panels... Rock buggies do not have them... Because, well, they get beat up. Obvious compromise. Most of them you do not even need to drive on the road. SO... Is the top itself a compromise (in any form)? By your definition I would think so.

Anybody with a 2 dr have leak issues with the gunner's hatch?
Nope.
I've had the hatch open several times.
If I remove the hatch while the Bronco is still wet from rain, I'll get a few drops from the gasket's groove -- but that's not a leak!

True, body panels are for Starbucks runs. The only legit way to wheel your Bronco is…

I know there aren't as many out there as the MIC hardtop, but has anyone had problems with the painted hardtop like cracking or leaks? I'm sure they get scratches easier but that isn't the top's fault.
24 2.7 wildtraks 13k no issues but I keep a good ceramic coating on it. The bronco looks and drives as good as day one.

Eight months and no issues. I did PPF the front two panels because I removed them occasionally when I have the hard top on. I run the soft top through spring and summer.

Ford couldn't make a viable case to bring the Bronco back if not for the mall crawlers. Based on Jeep executive estimates, 85-90% of owners use these vehicles as mall crawlers.

Yeah I mean the MIC top probably slightly more utilitarian. For instance maintenance, like waxing and taking care of the paint, etc. MIC is basic, nothing fancy, just wash it with a sponge. But the MIC tops all seem to crack sooner or later so you could make an argument for the painted tops.

You could also make an argument that white tops are more utilitarian because these keep the temperatures from the sun lower in the cab.

It's great Ford gives us things like this to debate :)

Back to the OP question, have been eyeing the painted tops to see if they will develop cracks too. Not sure if they are just painting over a MIC top or it's altogether different construction.

It's a different construction, different plant, different supplier. It's an entirely different product made to fit an existing package.

Yes 100%, it's almost completely all about image and a reflection of one's chosen personality. I would say that the majority of sasquatch bronco owners will never even use the diff locks or see much more than a gravel road.

Also consider that the average car sits for 95% of the time. The actual offroad scene with people going offroad is so small compared to the pavement princesses.

The nice thing about the bronco is that it can be many things to many people. Luxury or basic. Choose your flavor hoss 1.0 up to hoss 4.0.
