So a couple questions.

1. Do you have to follow the programming procedure listed in the install instructions that were posted(cycling the ignition like 5 times and stopping in the on position the 6th)? or do you just cycle your ignition one time like the original poster explained in his write up?

2. Secondly does this work for remote start function on a vehicle that does not have a remote start key fob? I can remote start mine now with the Ford app but it seems to be finicky about when it wants to work correctly(the app) and would like to use the remote start function with the key fob. Remote start is my primary reason for wanting to buy more than for the alarm capability.

Thanks in advance!

These are the steps I am asking about.....

Did you ever find an answer to question 2? I’m wondering the same thing.

I just finished installing this on my vehicle, but I'm having an issue with the vibration/shock sensor aspect. I can't get the thing to go off no matter how hard I shake my vehicle. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity knob both directions, but nothing seems to make any difference. I've confirmed that I'm able to remote start the vehicle using my key fob (which I couldn't do before), so I feel like everything is plugged in correctly. I zip tied my module in the same spot as the OP, and I've confirmed it's on there tight. Any suggestions on what could be going on (or if I did something wrong)? Also, in case it matters, I do not have the optional led add-on.

UPDATE: Managed to get it working. While searching for a solution, I saw something that mentioned that the doors should lock and then unlock automatically after turning the power on then off after installation. Thinking back, I remembered the doors locking, but I opened the door manually before they had a chance to unlock. Out of curiosity, I unplugged the new module and plugged it back in. I then power cycled the vehicle again, and this time I waited for it to lock and unlock on its own. After doing that, the shock sensor worked.

Anyone know where the dealer would have installed this? Supposedly my Bronco was supposed to have this plus module but I do not see it. Was one of the “dealer installed” accessories they added to the vehicle….

Also if the plus module is there, the bottom plug is plugged in? Or is there a plug there regardless?

You should be able to trace the wire that’s plugged into the bottom of the factory module to find it. I read someone else say the dealer put theirs behind the kick panel in the footwell.

Even though I managed to get the shock sensor working, it definitely wasn’t as sensitive as others described. Originally, I zip-tied it in the same orientation as the OP. Out of curiosity, I decided to go back in and see if I could find an alternative spot. While in there, I noticed that the holes at the four corners of the module had openings shaped like they were made for zip ties. I decided to try rotating the module 90° so I could use those holes to secure it. After doing that, the shock sensor is much more sensitive. I’ve attached a photo showing how I mounted it. Sorry for the quality of the photo, but it was dark in my garage.

Ya finally got home and pulled everything apart last night. The bottom connector is the one connected to the vehicle harness...so it is definitely missing. I emailed the dealer yesterday so we will see if they do anything.

The wire that comes with the module is a three-way cable. One end goes into the factory module, and the other goes into the cable that originally went into the factory module. Then there’s a thinner long cable that branches off to connect to the new module. If the cable that is plugged into the bottom of the factory module doesn’t have branch, then the perimeter plus module isn’t installed. If it does, then you just need to trace the long wire to find the module.

After locking my door, via door sensor or with Key FOB my alarm goes off on its own every so often. I'm not sure why, and the sensitivity has been turned down? Anyone else experiencing this or have a fix?

I used to get notifications in the Ford App when my alarm would go off, now not any more, any one else run into this issue and was able to fix?

Ever get any more info on your issues?

I was thinking about purchasing this for mine.

What an awful experience. This minor install may have been enough to push me away from Ford. What an absolute CROCK!!! First of all, when you pay this much for a vehicle, it is assumed that you have a decent anti-theft device. There should be no need to upgrade with a new module or wiring harness. Furthermore, if you are going to make it an option, why can’t you simple allow for the plugging of a simple module in an accessible area?

Purchasing accessories from Ford sucks. I ordered from Ford because of a 20% discount. After two weeks ”in transit,” I went to the Ford dealer I had selected to receive the accessory, and the guy behind the counter said there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t see if it had been sent. Of course, he told me I could cancel the order and buy directly from him without any discount. I told him I would wait.

After a month of being “in transit,” I went back to the dealer. This time another guy suggested I contact the number on the e-mail confirmation. Called Ford, and he told me that it had been received by the dealer literally days after I ordered it. The dealer guy asks the guy on the phone what is the FAE number. He goes back, and sure enough it’s been there for almost a month. Fine. I’m not going to make a scene, but I was pissed.

On to the install. WTF!!! Who in their right mind puts the push tab on the connector on the back side of the connector? I have really big hands, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get the damn connector off. Fine, I’ll remove the three bolts. I create some more room, and finally, the damn connector comes off. Complete the install and zip tie the new module with zip ties, and now I can‘t get to one of the original bolts. Fine, two should be plenty.

Then, the fun starts. I tried three different attempt to activate the modules. One method talks about cycling the ingnition while holding the brakes but keeping the engine Off. Well, last time I checked if you depress the brake pedal and hit the ignition button, guess what - IT STARTS!!! Do 6 cycles, and lock and unlock the doors - Nothing. Find a video from Asia somewhere, cycle the ignition, lock and unlock the doors, I hear a horn blast. Alright - some progress. Activate the lock, wait 30 seconds, and start testing the system. Only when I try opening the passenger front door, does it beep. I have to literally grab the roof rack and sway the Bronco to get the alarm to sound. It doesn’t work for any other door. Change the sensitivity, and again only the front passenger door honks when trying to open it.

Nothing I have done allows for the shock sensor to pick up anything from anything but the passenger door. In addition, there is some new way to activate auto-start with the key fob that I really don’t need.

In summary, what a fail Ford. Your vehicles are targets of thieves, and your customers are left with ineffectual methods to prevent theft. Furthermore, you make it nearly impossible for mechanically inclined people to work on these vehicles. My wife drives a 2004 Mercury Grand Marques. I recently had to replace a blend door actuator. That was infinitely easier than trying to install the perimeter security system. Shame on you. You may have lost a customer forever.

Awe man. That's terrible. I was about to order one for my new Bad Squatch.

Question (more then likely a stupid one since you seem so through) but did you happen to mount it in the orientation, mentione in post #140 by @murrman , and very tight with zip ties to a non moving part:

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...-plus-—-diy-how-to-writeup.48249/post-2734049

And then adjust/experiment with the sensitivity.

Reason I ask is I have read a lot about these and the mount location and correct-side-up appears to makes a big difference, with sensitivity adjustment of course. Compared to those that mounted elsewhere and a different orinentation.

I was about to order and give it a shot, but then just saw your post.

Thank you sir!

I guess maybe I got lucky and didn’t run into any problems other than the led light stopped working.

Thanks for chiming in @EOD98.
Do you have a post of photo that shows where/how you mounted it?
Seems like that makes the biggest difference from what I was able to come across.

Thx!
