Is this the regular alarm or did you install the perimeter plus?
perimeter plus

Finished installing the light today, not bad, but I had to remove the black box in order to unplug the light

Finally got the chance to install Perimeter plus with LED light. I've set it to the most sensitive (clockwise all the way) and you really have to shake the door to make it honk once. I continued shaking the door and the alarm goes off. I also got a message from the FordPass app that my alarm went off. Otherwise it was an hour install, thanks for all the tips!

Was wondering if the white plug thats on the far left is used, or is it extra and can you plug in this, Vipers
XpressKit 508D Double-Guard Proximity Sensor .
The 508D comes supplied with a 4-pin harness which connects between the dual zone motion sensor module and your vehicle's alarm module.

Does anyone know if 2 horn beeps when unlocking means the alarm was triggered at some point? This has only happened twice to me in the last month so it must mean something. I also have not gotten any notifications to Fordpass app? Shouldn't there be if the alarm is triggered?

Whoever designed the plug & its orientation in the bottom of this silver box should be handcuffed to the plug in a Bronco thrown into a lake. All they gotta do to survive is unplug it.

*edit, I was squeezing the wrong part of the pull tab. If only I could have seen it. For those trying, there’s a lightly knurled bit about 1/4-1/2” up on the center of the plug that you need to squeeze the top of hard. You can get it out without unscrewing the box. I was squeezing the very outer edge of the tab (like you would for the perimeter plus harness that I could see) and it did nothing, you’ve gotta get a little higher up into the plug.

So a couple questions.

1. Do you have to follow the programming procedure listed in the install instructions that were posted(cycling the ignition like 5 times and stopping in the on position the 6th)? or do you just cycle your ignition one time like the original poster explained in his write up?

2. Secondly does this work for remote start function on a vehicle that does not have a remote start key fob? I can remote start mine now with the Ford app but it seems to be finicky about when it wants to work correctly(the app) and would like to use the remote start function with the key fob. Remote start is my primary reason for wanting to buy more than for the alarm capability.

Thanks in advance!

These are the steps I am asking about.....

Installed the perimeter plus module today.

Piece of cake. Unplugging the plug from the existing module is a bitch. My hand came out bloody and battered but it got it done. Took about 15 mins total.

Alarm works great. I used VHB to stick the new module to the existing module and skipped the LED light.

I’ve had the perimeter alarm for a few months and finally am looking at installing it. You all weren’t kidding about trying to get that out. I messed around with it for about 20 minutes and there’s no way I’m getting it out without unbolting the module. Plan on fighting with it this weekend.

That bottom plug was a SOB. What finally worked for me was unbolting the existing module and removing the wiring support bracket that was attached to it. That bracket just pulls out, once I did that I was able to gently turn the module over giving my better access to the plug.

I got lucky. I knew about hands getting bloody so I came prepared and used gloves. After a few hours pulling and grunting, I was able to release the plug. From there on it was easy-peasy.

I like to run with the roof off and sometimes will have a container or two in the back so bought this preemptively.
I installed mine yesterday in about 40 minutes. The bottom plug came out on my first attempt without needing to loosen the existing module. I didn’t loosen the existing module at all. Zip ties fit right behind it.

Couple of tips:
  1. Be sure you leave enough space to remove the cabin air filter cover when you zip tie the perimeter plus module to the existing module. It’s a tight fit.
  2. No need to remove the connector on the side of the existing module. That stays plugged in.
  3. The glove box arrestor can be disconnected from the glove box and left in place where it attaches to the side paneling. If you look to where it connects to the glove box, you’ll see it simply needs to be moved aft to release it and then pull it out from the hole in the glove box. Easy.

I still need to play around with the sensitivity and where to mount the LED but it works well enough out of the box. A hard smack on the steering wheel set it off.

If the Plus module doesn't have a proximity sensor, we're going to just add the Viper/Bronco adapter w/T-harness and the DEI 508D proximity module, a 520T backup battery for the main system and a DEI 515R mini siren w/built in battery inside the cab.
Did this integrate with the factory key fobs? What were all the parts needed?

Thanks!
