I think the torque increase does satisfy me after installing the FPP, so I am not trying to complain, and I think this should be offered as a package that came from the factory! But I also notice the turbo lag is more noticeable than before the installation. For example, I notice that when driving in high temperatures like 90 degrees, I can definitely feel it's more laggy than driving in 50 degrees. I know Ford did not say you need to upgrade anything before installing the FPP (all you need is premium gas) but do you guys think upgrading the intercooler or cold air intake will make any difference?
Unfortunately there's no CAIs yet for the 25 2.3, but some other posters have mentioned that certain intercooler (not the piping) will still fit the new 2.3.

Dealer installed the tune this morning . After the brief drive, my initial impression is it definitely pulls harder on the low end RPM. The boost comes on quickly. I drive a 2-door manual. I give it a thumbs up. I would recommend. Acceleration has also improved for passing. 5th and 6th are less sluggish.

So to get the 2025/2026 Ford Tune for the 2.3L once it is legal for me in California, I have to first create an account at Ford Performance "https://performanceparts.ford.com" and in my registration, do I need to enter my engine PN and SN ... if so, for the 2026 2.3L is the SN stamped on the engine block?

Don't laugh, but how do I get the voucher... I thought I would have to order and pay first from the Ford Performance website. Ok, it's Friday and maybe I need a beer.

Can 87 octane still be used with the performance tune, or is premium fuel required at all times? I’m primarily interested in improving low-end throttle response rather than maximizing 0-60 times or absolutely peak performance. Ideally, I’d like to achieve a modest gain without committing to premium fuel, although I recall seeing that it may be required after applying the tune.

Then the tune is not for you...91 is a minimum, I would dump 2 gallons of E85 in there as well.

I’ll still move forward with it—it’s not a showstopper. I was just curious.

Regarding the octane rating, for this tune, does a low octane rating just reduce the available HP or actually damage the engine?

On a normally aspirated engine, a little ping no biggy. A forced induction motor is a recipe for diasaster.

For the base factory engine I4, no tune, the engine can sense octane/pinging, that is why Ford rates the HP as 275HP on 87 octane and 300 on 93 octane. It changes the timing to avoid ping resulting in lower HP. So this tune somehow disables this ability?

Ford states 91 octane or higher which is pretty self-explanatory. These tunes simply aren't for people that don't like to pay for 91+ so if you are asking, it's probably not for you.
